I´ve done short hops (IBZ-VLC) which are 30 mins and bearable on FR. Worst tend to be the gate dragons who are actually economically incentivised to pick out non-conforming hand luggage. Once past them, it gets easier.

And don't forget Ryanair's customer relations service if anything goes wrong.
