Ryanair - A4 Paper
 

Hi I am wondering where I can get A4 paper in Canada as it is not commonly used here.
Also any tips for flying Ryanair? I will be flying from Dublin to Bristol and then back to Dublin via Luton in March. I have already replaced my hand luggage to accomodate their restrictions. Any other tips? I would love to learn about other peoples experiences!

I don't think using US Letter would be an issue for printing boarding passes, as long as all the required information is printed, but A4 paper is readily available at both Grand & Toy and Staples.

Flew once. Never again. The boat people have it better when fleeing a country.

It shouldn't be... but then again knowing Ryanair, and the way they use ANY excuse to charge passengers extra fees, I wouldn't be surprised if they took the attitude "It's not A4 - the rules say A4" and charge you for a replacement.

So - if you can't get A4 paper you may want to take precautions by taking a PDF copy with you (in addition to a paper copy on US Letter) and trying to get an A4 print in Europe.

As for other tips... I presume you are already aware of all the standard things that one needs to know like "strictly one item" (they've been known to kick up a fuss about water bottles or books carried in people's hands).

I would recommend taking some music and a good pair of noise-cancelling headphones as the in-flight experience can be very noisy and irritating (one commercial after the next)

Personally I avoid Ryanair (because of their attitude) but I have used them in emergencies and they are bearable - just.

Print it on Letter but when you print the PDF make sure there's no scaling/resizing involved. As long as the bottom prints, you should be fine. Otherwise take an 8.5x14 legal sheet and cut it down to letter size. I believe Staples will do custom paper size cutting for free.

If you can put up with an hour or so on a bus then Ryanair will be O.K. In 2011 I did two round trips with Ryanair and had no issues.

I would love to find out if anyone has ever been dinged for additional fees for using letter-sized paper instead of A4. One would think that would be beneath even Ryanair!

A quick search of BT forum will turn up a plethora of threads. In fact, scrolling a page or two is probably all that is needed ;)

IIRC a poster in one of the recently active Ryanair threads reported no problems using standard US/Canada paper for boarding pass.

Thank you all for your advice! It seems to me that as long as I follow the rules carefully we should not have any problems. Still can't find the paper though. I did check Staples and they do not carry it. Will take a closer look at grand and toy in the near future because I would like to get this printed off prior to my longaul to Dublin....want to enjoy my time there prior to flying to Bristol without having to worry about this :-)
