Star City visit as a solo traveler?

This September, I'll be making my first visit to Russia this September, solo.

I'm highly interested in a day tour from Moscow to the cosmonautics center Star City, which is not permissible to do independently (right?).

There are some decent looking group tour options, but as a solo traveler, the cost is, well, sky-high. Is there any known way around this? I'd like to get out of it for under $250 for the day.

Thanks, in advance, for the collective wisdom of this board.

Just wanted to note that AFAIK as a foreigner you or your tour's organizer have to file the paperwork 45 business days before your visit.

Yes, that matches my understanding.

Does anyone have any wisdom to share on the question I asked in the original post?

I did it on my own but had paid for 2 (my husband had become an ex in the intervening period). I’ll see if I can find the company I used. I don’t think we paid much for it
