Cost of SVO airport taxi?
 

I will be flying into Sheremetyevo airport in a few days at 1:45 p.m. I'm staying at Holiday Inn Sokolniki.

Would a taxi be the fastest way there and what should it cost if I go to an official taxi booth?

Does this airport have multiple "official" taxi booths with flexible rates that need to be negotiated, or is it truly a fixed price? In some airports I've gotten the feeling that the official booths are almost as dodgy as the drivers who hang around outside.

I've also read numbers of anywhere from 850 rubles (if using a taxi app) to 2500 rubles to this trip so I'd like to know what to expect.

I'd prefer to use a taxi app like Uber, yandex, or Gett but that can depend on availability of cars and whether the drive and I can find each other if we don't speak the same language.

I ended up using the Yandex taxi booth, fixed rates, 1500 Rubles to Sokolniki

Booths are reasonable. If you have an app you can get it somewhat cheaper but you may have to wait and may have to communicate with driver (not easy without speaking russian). My uber from DME to city center was 1000 (and it was a royal pain to locate car near terminal) and from city center to SVO 850RUB.

I'd say 1000-1200 is ok. >1500 is too much.

If you're not dead set on getting a taxi, I'd recommend using the Aeroexpress train from the airport to the city, it's cheap (500rub), as fast as a taxi, and you've got free WiFi inside. Sure, it isn't your own little transport, but it's as comfortable as public transportation can get, especially when you're arriving either very late or early (depends on how you see life!) and there's nobody inside but you and the candy sellers.
