Is three nights (2.5 days) enough time to see the major sites in Moscow?

We will be coming from St. Petersburg, where we will be for five nights (our second time there) and thought I should see Moscow while my visa is still good.

Kremlin, Red Square, Pushkin Museum, the Arbat seem like the most compelling sites based on my reading so far. I'm guessing those would take two full days, leaving a half day for other stuff.

Enough time? Any other compelling sites? (GUM, Gorky Park, don't seem to be compelling enough to stay a fourth night.) I figure checking out a couple of major streets or pedestrian areas would be a good fit.

I would say...probably yes, depending on much time you list to spend inside the museums. But otherwise should be doable, I believe.

depends on what you want to do - half day can be enough if all you want is to visit red square...

you can watch theater or ballet or circus performance, ride metro and explore design/art of stations, take a boat ride along moscow river, hang out in gorky or sokolniki parks visit myriads of museums, zoo, aquarium, planetarium etc, go to bathhouse, do day trips to some surrounding places..

if you are into art/architecture StP probably offers more but overall moscow is a much bigger city with more choices...

Take a walk up to the Church of Christ The Saviour,with gold domes on it,there is also a nice Costa Coffee shop on the way there,you get great views of Moscow from a bridge by the church,,and see the huge statue of Peter The Great,well worth a walk there.

If you're a literature/Bulgakov buff, don't miss the Patriarshie Prudi park. That's where the Master & Margarita starts.

We had an amazing chance meeting there - asking some directions* from two beer drinking teen boys (one wearing an appropriate T-shirt!) we ended up discussing the book and Bulgakov in general with them. They even suggested to visit the nearby Bulgakov's flat and what to see there.

* we wanted to find this sign - they walked us there!
