Stopover
Am traveling from the United States to St. Petersburg on an award ticket and then back from Moscow next July. Any suggestions for stopovers --
We'd rather do the stopover enroute to LED. We are considering Copenhagen, Helsinki, Prague and Budapest to name a few. Helsinki was recommended as we could save the stopover and fly to HEL then train to LED and use stopover on way back. Interesting but time is limited. Any idea how much the train costs in USD. On a Helsinki site I saw a 144,00 price for a first class seat but was not sure in what currency. If Finnish it is under 440 and that seemed cheap. |

I believe first class single on Allegro (this is a high speed rail link connecting St. Pete and Helsinki) is around EUR 180 (USD 260). This might go up next summer, but I don't believe prices will increase twofold. |
Thanks.
Going over we are flying to Helsinki for five nights. We will ferry to Tallinn for a day trip or an overnight. We will train to St. Petersburg. The cost we see is the 144 Euros or a little over $200. Second class is 50 Euros less. Is First Class that much better? Coming back we will fly out of Moscow. Depending on whether we are with Delta or another airline at that time, we will have some stopover options. WAW could be among them as could Paris, Amsterdam and several German cities. Will know more after September 5. |
