Same plane returns from Pulkovo
Hi,
Does anyone know how Pulkovo airport works? I am planning to fly HEL-LED on AY then return with same plane to Helsinki on separate ticket LED-HEL-KIX. Finnair operates from terminal 1. Is the same plane return possible? Basically can I stay in the arrival area and board directly back into the same returning plain OR do they force you go outside the international area (check in for return should be possible beforehand in Helsinki so that should be ok). Also if someone happens to have experience of this would be nice to know if Finnair requires Visa for this strange same plane return on separate tickets. Russian embassy rules say that Visa is not needed but Finnair doesnt seem to know their own policy in customer service. |
Shouldn't be an issue : agents at HEL are well versed in Russia's visa regulations. Having said that you want to be first off your flight. Transfer desk at LED is often left unmanned, which may lead in a delay in clearing you to your return flight. |
Interesting. I am travelling only with hand luggage. I was hoping to check in both flights online or in Helsinki. fly HEL-LED (separate ticket) and then go out of the plane and just hang around at the gate. And since I have boarding pass already from Helsinkior online to LED-HEL-Osaka and only hand luggage I was hoping I could just return to the same plane.
Do you see any problems in this plan? I understood in LED it is possible to hang around at gate and they don't force you go away from the gate area. |
That used to be the case in the old terminal, where you would clear security at the gate. The new terminal has a centralized security check point, which you would have to go thru before returning to the gate. AY has what...3 daily flights to LED? I would really take the next one out instead of returning on the same flight.... just to be safe . The only problem that I see here is you being allowed to board the flight in HEL because technically you are doing a back to back, not a transit. Transit means you are going to the third country, rather than returning to the country of origin. |
