Will trip (IAD-JFK-SVO-VNO) which will involve Aeroflot, allow a through checked bag?
 

I am using Delta miles to visit my spouse in Lithuania and my only reasonable option was using Aeroflot. I will be flying Dulles-JFK-SVO-VNO.

My layover at SVO is about 9 hours. I plan to bring a carry-on size piece of luggage for the tip but hoped to check it so I wouldn't have to worry about keeping it with me during the long layover. I am very unclear if I am able to check in for my flight at Dulles and check my luggage through to Vilnius or if it is necessary or simply best to keep the bag with me for the duration of the trip.

I will be arriving at SVO in terminal D and departing from terminal E. I do not plan to get a Visa as I don't intend to leave the airport.
