Singapore Airlines to switch Houston stopover from Moscow to Manchester

Technically not a Russian airline, but I think this is the most relevant place to post this.

Completely by chance yesterday I ended-up flying on the last Moscow-Houston flight on SQ. I was surprised at the check-in when they told me that it was the last flight.

It sucks that until Delta will resume flights in the spring, Aeroflot is the only carrier flying non-stop between Russia and the US. I like Aeroflot but there needs to be competition.

We can add this to the list

Former US - Russia Routes (RIP), now discontinued

AA ORD-DME
UA IAD-DME
SQ IAH-DME
DL ATL-SVO
UN JFK/LAX/MIA-DME/VKO
SU IAD-SVO ( this was once a week, then dropped)

The carriers will be back when demand comes back. EK's A380 is back at DME, which means there is demand, just not to the US.

I just hope SU doesn't raise prices. There is plenty of completion, via connections unfortunately. Fares on Star and Sky carriers still seem attractive, but with a stop, inconvenient.

Nordwind Airlines (N4) has replaced Transaero as a designated carrier for Moscow-New York route, however I don't expect them to fly this route anytime soon.

Add: the above also applies to Moscow-Miami

Actually this is still in the schedule and still flying.

Every monday:
SU104 departing SVO 9:20, arriving IAD 12:10
SU105 departing IAD 14:10, arriving SVO 7:35+1

The diplomats need a direct flight.

They already did when Transaero died. Now that Delta is not flying the route either, we can expect even more increases.
