Liquids in hand luggage
 

Hi all,

I'm flying with S7 DME->IKT in May; and also into LED and out from DME with LH.

My travel company just advised me that Russia apparently bans all liquids from carry on, including anything < 100ml which I've always been fine with everywhere else (including the US!)

The information online seems to vary by date. Does anyone know where it currently stands? My main concern are some 10ml eye drops which while medical - are over the counter and not something I can get a medical letter for.

Had no problems with liquids flying out of LED few weeks ago.

Wrong. You'll have no problems with the usual <100 ml liquids and can sometimes get away with bringing something larger (though it depends on the current security situation and the departure airport).

Most of the Russian commercial airports follow IATA rules . You will find international standards used worldwide observed

The exception I personally noticed is that security can be slightly more strict in the republics

- More rigerous ID checking i, i.e Kazan, Ufa and Grozny
- A lot more nudescopes, with the operator nearby. ( and yes the operator just saw you totally naked) . At least in EU/US the operator is hidden in another room.

The water thing is a standard rule. If you take too much you may have to ditch it at security, that's all.

Under 100ml-never ever a problem,sometimes they might allow you to carry over 100ml too,but they should not.

If I recall correctly, there was some time around Winter Olympics when all liquids were temporarily banned.

Back last February I was too lazy to wait all night for the check in to open and I was able to sneak in a L of moonshine. Sad to say, but as long as you don't look like a guy from the Caucasus you're fine.
