Hi guys... Im wondering if Im able to get on a Il-86 I will love to. Are those birds still coming to BCN?

Cheers! I have not seen these planes in Barcelona for a while, but it might have just been a coincidence. I flew in an Illyushin from Barcelona to Prague(or Paris to Prague, cannot remember exactly) back in 1993 or 1994. I am not sure if I would like to repeat the experience. :rolleyes: |

I suspect that EU noise regulations may have done in the Il86 on most routes, with high fuel prices contributing to its demise. At SVO and DME there are very few visible that appear to used with any regularity, and even at VKO my sense is that they are not heavily used for regular routes.

I saw lots of Russian(-built) aircraft at AYT when I went there with my family. Just wonder how you would get onboard, as these are supposedly Russian holiday charters...

How about Il-96? Cubana has got some reasonable offers from London or Paris to Habana currently.

I understand SU only flies this planes to the Russian Far East now (UUS, KHV and PKC). So unless you plan on exploring Siberia, there's very little chance of flying this metal. They used to fly it to HAV, but no longer do (this destination is now served by A330). |

Aeroflot has just announced it will operate two repatriation flights out of Stanstead today using IL9 metal: SU246 and SU581. these flights would normally operate from LHR, but with current issues at this airport SU has made a decision to use other London airports to bring stranded Russian travellers back home.

My favorite parts were alwaus watching them go to the back with the plastic hose to manualy rebalance the fuel after take off. I agree that the IL9 is of a different generation especialy with the Western engines. |
