Ritz Wedding Question
I asked this question in the wrong thread under Marriott. Can you use your Marriott rewards number and get points if you have a wedding at The Ritz. Does anyone know how many points you receive?

For sure, you can earn points by using your Ritz credit card for everything you have spent on Ritz.
But IMO I don't think you will get any points from the wedding package you book on Ritz. (Not relevant - I have once asked Sheraton (SPG) for the same question. And the response above was exactly what I got.) |

With The Ritz-Carlton Rewards, valuable points can be accrued for planning your event at any of our participating properties worldwide. Points can be earned for rooms and catering events such as receptions, banquets, weddings and reunions. Depending on your preference, you can also elect to receive airline miles instead of points. 3 points for each U.S. dollar spent. up to 50k per event (see SanDiego1k's post about the points) - we separated the rehearsal dinner, wedding venue because we have cocktail hour immediately after the ceremony, and reception into 3 distinct contracts, which gave me a boost in points. Also, I negotiated for the hotel to buy me 2 years of Platinum status before I really got to making Plat on my own. Put everything on the Ritz card for the 5x points. |

(2) "Eligible Event Charges" are any amounts incurred and paid for an Eligible Event under the applicable Eligible Event Agreement including, without limitation, all group room revenue, meeting room rental revenue, and catering revenue that is included in the Eligible Event Agreement, and excluding charges for guest room incidentals and for food and beverage that is not included in the Eligible Event Agreement (e.g. charges at a restaurant within the SPG Participating Hotel), taxes, gratuities, and related charges. |

Thanks sig05. That's a very interesting perspective. We are talking about MR points and not Ritz Tier, correct?
