First time at Ritz-Carlton

Hi all,

I will stay for the first time at Ritz-Carlton.
I will be in Kuala Lumpur.
It will be part of our honeymoon.

What to expect? We will have a so called "deluxe room" and I think is it "lowest".

Anything to ask at check-in?

Any suggestion?

Thanks
Marco

the deluxe rooms are only 40SM and are the smallest rooms at this prop........
you do not state if you have any RC/MRs status to know if you are entitled to any perks........
location near to the Pavillion for shopping and a few restaurants...........

Hate to sound like a cynic, but expect to have a good/great but not necessarily amazing stay, and you will not be disappointed. (This isn't property specific, but my general opinion of RCs chainwide.)

If you have Platinum status, you could ask for an upgrade at check in.
You don't get lounge access unless you pay for it.
If it's your honeymoon I would consider some of their room packages which could offer you hotel credit, breakfast/dinner, or spa treatment.

You may want to inform them (via email or virtual concierge) that it will be your honeymoon and they MAY do something special for you, really depends on the property/staff.

This is a ridiculous thing to post. It's not property specific and you are generalizing 80 completely different Ritz hotels, some of which are fantastic properties.

The rationale behind my post is that I find that many RCs often overpromise when it comes to service, and then fall short in a way that doesn't happen as much at some other luxury chains. Perhaps part of the problem is that there are a number of domestic RC locations with sub-par service that, IMHO, tarnishes the brand itself.

Since this is the OP's first stay at a RC, and since it is a honeymoon stay, I just thought it would be good for the OP to go in with realistic expectations. I believe this specific RC property gets mixed reviews.

Sounds reasonable, no matter where you're staying.

I do not have any status (I have membership, but I think it does not matter); really first time at Ritz-Carlton :)

Of course I do not what the Heaven :)
Just asked as I am curious to see what they can "offer".
I will tell we will be in Honeymoon :)

Definitely let them know ahead of time that you are celebrating your honeymoon! Even if they simply offer a sincere, "Congratulations", it's a good idea to let them know you're celebrating. I think the staff likes to know these things ahead of time - many places enjoy offering some sort of nice gesture like a note, bottle of wine, or something small like that.

I suggest to also look into any other special packages they may offer, as the PP suggested! I did look it up, and they don't have a club level (darn). They do have a honeymoon package - but it may be cheaper to just book your room and add on what you like (I don't know the exchange rate, and did look their packages up but have no idea what the prices are!).

Also, read reviews where you can find them (tripadvisor, oyster, etc...) to familiarize yourself with the property and what it offers!

Wishing you the best!

For sure they can offer anything that you are willing to pay for.

My first stay at an RC is next month in Santiago, Chile (Calle El Alcalde). Paid for club floor. Any advice about best rooms?

I made the reservation via Marriott. I want to request early check-in since my flight from DFW arrives mid-morning. Does RC send an email about an upcoming stay that I can reply to?

Ah, true; but of course that's not why folks come to Flyertalk.

This property is amex FHR, so if you have access to it you should book via FHR (free breakfast, upgrade).

Also, you might want to check how much difference for the next room category (executive deluxe). It comes with "Lounge" access and free breakfast.

RC KUL

From my last stay there (2 yrs ago), the "Lounge" is not the standard RC lounge with 4-5 food presentation.
I think it only has snack/drinks. It might have changed since then.

In some RCs, executive rooms can be any room in the hotel but give lounge privileges. Many RCs do not have distinct executive floors, wings, or buildings. You are paying extra solely for the lounge, not for a better room in any way. Other RCs do seem to have key access executive floors. It can be helpful to check which is the case before deciding to pay extra for the executive room.

Oops - my bad! They do have a club level.
