My experience is that the driver will tell you to order another vehicle through Uber or Lyft. And wish you good luck.

Welcome to Flyertalk @sjay. We've relocated your thread to our Ride Services forum for more visibility.

Has this happened to any FTers out there? What happened?

I can't imagine they have any "internal" communication network (as Cabs do) so I'm not sure what the driver could be expected to do that any of us couldn't do ourselves just as quickly... ???

You do realize that this sort of thing can happen if you where to be using a cab, public transportation, your car, or take a ride with a friend. Results will pretty much be the same. With a cab, they can internally communicate with dispatch on the breakdown and they assign other cab, hopefully is one that is close to minimize the wait. Public transportation, well, that depends, most likely they will shuttle a bus to recover all riders and continue through. Your car, or take a ride with a friend, brings you back to using rideshare, cab or public transport.

If an accident, you might be needed as witness in case of injuries, property damage. If you are looking for some sort of compensation for the trouble, the cab might give a discount code for future use, rideshare, they might offer some refund, public transportation. your car, your friend, doubt anything will be given.

Interesting question. I was in an Uber in Dubai last February. The car was rear-ended, HARD, by a food delivery cycle. I was actually sore the next day. In Dubai, at least, everyone is supposed to wait for the police. The motorcyclist, obviously injured, and some damage to his bike, got the bike going and zoomed off before and info was exchanged. And then the police showed up and had words with the Uber driver about holding up traffic and the police drove off.

Anyway the Uber dropped me off at a petrol station about 1/4 mile away, canceled the trip, and told me to call for another car. I wasn't charged for the original trip.

But what if I was really injured? How's that work, especially outside of the USA?
