Never were your friends so valuable...

(unless of course, your friends are in the wrong currency)

What countries have you visited recently in which 5,500 of their local currency may appear more logical?

Sorry, it wasn't a question. I think AutoSlash got it as it is not USD. Nor AUD nor HKD. I think it must either be Kenya or Uganda which use shillings. Probably Uganda as that's US$1.50 worth of shillings versus Kenya which is US$54. But why they put in a dollar sign rather than shillings or just "sh" is a question for Uber's IT folk.

Looking at countries that use "dollars," I'm thinking Guyana in South America is the most feasible:

5500 GYD = 26.35 USD

I think Liberia uses LRD and USD, so a plain "$" in the email is ambigous. (But it would be funny if that was the bait-and-switch...your friend spends 5500USD, you get 5500LRD!)

But if it's not dollars at all...isn't the offer typically $5 in the US? If so, maybe South Korean Won?

5500 KRW = 4.87 USD

The reason I suspect that it is a country you used it was based on me seeing such oddities in the Grab app when I move between Singapore and Thailand. I forgot that they are not the same for a moment.

Let me take an Uber from Philly to Vegas and I'll still have some left over for a very nice tip for the driver.
