Uber/Lyft - Northern Bergen County to EWR
 
I take Uber/Lyft between EWR and pmy home in Northen Bergen County 2x/week. It seems 30% of the time the driver has their GPS set to “Avoid Tolls”. From where I live, not taking toll roads (i.e NJ Turnpike) will almost double a 40 minute trip. When I re-direct them, they seem aggravated.

I’m sure this has had a downward effect on my rating, but shouldn’t I expect the driver to take the most expeditious route??

You certainly should expect the driver to take the fastest route, and Uber's price quote is based on the assumption that they will.

It makes no sense. You pay the tolls anyway. If they don't have cash, offer to pay the toll and let that be your tip
