Clueless? Airport surcharge not disclosed in estimate
Looking for experienced Uber riders to comment.
I took an Uber from SFO (Termimal 3) to downtown San Francisco yesterday.
The estimate (clearly from SFO) was a bit under $26.
The trip was "routine" and swift (traffic smooth, no delays, 70+ MPH highway driving).
The charge was $33.51.
The breakdown -
Subtotal $27.96
Booking Fee (?) $ 1.75
SFO Airport Surcharge (?) $ 3.80
I was surprised the Surcharge was not included in the estimate.
Looking at the Uber website <https://www.uber.com/fare-estimate/> now
From: SFO Airport Terminal 2 - Lower Level, San Mateo County, CA
To: My home address in San Francisco, CA
uberX THE LOW-COST UBER
Base Fare $2.00
+Per Minute$0.22
+Per Mile$1.15
Booking Fee $1.75
Minimum Fare $6.75
Cancellation Fee $5.00
The rider fare will be the price presented before the trip or based on the rates above and other applicable surcharges and adjustments.
Sooooooo,
Why do they not disclose the Surcharge *before* asking for the ride?

Thanks for the heads-up. Are their any other airports out there that are known to add Uber surcharges? I travel a bit and haven't paid much attention to the fare breakdown until now. Wondering if I've been charged at SFO and elsewhere too.

Point 1: It seems really odd that the SFO fee was NOT included in the estimate. It's possible that there are different rules in SFO but here in the ATL it IS included.
Point 2: The website simply tells you the rates. If your route take you through an unexpected toll it will added to your final total and will NOT be inside of your estimate.
Points aside the SFO surcharge is a known toll and seems odd that it was left out.
