iDine - multiple cards and accounts

1. What happens when you put the same credit card into iDine for several airline programs, for example United and American. Do you get miles for both programs when you use that card?
2. What happens when you put the same credit card into iDine accounts of two different people? Do both get benefits when the card is used?

Thanks in advance for the responses!

i believe that you can only direct a card to one program, which can be anyone....we have 1 card going to a grandson...

i don't think you can direct one card to multiple programs....

what happened when you tried?

So, as far as I understand, the names on the card does not necessary have to match the one on the iDine/FF account?

Well, have haven't tried yet. I wanted to first see if anyone had experiences already before being my own guinea pig. :p

I've tried to add a card to a different iDine account before and it yelled at me saying the card was already in use on another account.

Even though there are different phone numbers for each program (UA, AA,, DL, CO, etc...), ALL calls go to the SAME office in Miami! The computer will not allow you to add the same card to 2 programs.

I attempted to add a card online to my US idine account, but it would not let me do so. I then called US idine to explain what happened. After checking on their computer, I was told by US idine that "this AX is registered to your DL idine account"! (Remember I called US idine!) The only way the AX could be put on my US idine account is if my DL idine account was closed, but US idine could close my DL idine accont for me!

As explained above, this can not be done. You can only assign a card to a single account, be it airline (UA and AA) or person (husband and wife).

You may want to check also the idine/Rewards Network forum for more answers about idine/Rewards Network.

You will not be able to register the card in more than one iDine account. Even if you have an authorized card user (and thus a card with a different name on it, but same CC account number; I'm talking about Visa/MC here, not Amex) you won't be able to register the second card, getting a message to the tune of "This card is already registered".

Correct.

I have had a Delta iDine account for a year and recently opened a PC iDine account trying to use the same card and it was rejected.

But you should be able to rearrange the credit cards onto different iDine accounts. I've swapped mine back and forth between AA and NW before -- just delete the credit card number from one iDine account first, then add it to the other account.

This is a good reason to have a "few" credit cards.:)

Just remember that you have to have at least 1 card registered in a program to keep it open. But any card with a MC/VI/AX logo can be used as a "hold card"! :D (Most bank's debit cards have a MC or VI logo - these can be used as "hold cards"! :D)

A bit of warning switching a card around to use on different idines. I deleted a second card from my AA idine and used the card number for a new AA account for Mrs. Outoftown immediately afterwards. It messed up both accounts. I had to deal with idine's IT personnel and the airline reps to straighten it out, but now I have a new login on my account. I would recommend waiting a day after removing a credit card before adding it to another account. I currently have skymiles, nwa, united, us, co and aa accounts with idine on separate credit cards. It pays to have different airline accounts because different promos are offered each quarter and some are better than others. I've earned 30,000 off of two United promos in the last 3 quarters and over 15,000 AA miles so far in AA's 250 mile bonus promo this quarter and another 5000 miles in a different AA promo in the 1st quarter.

As to idine having the same call center, I was fortunate enough to deal with CC, a rep for United idine last month and working the AA idine this month. She was extremely competent and helpful in both cases.

Multiple cards on one account can come in handy. Currently AA Idine has a 250 mile bonus for a $15 spend. I use one card for drinks at the bar and another for the actual dining. Net result is 2 250 mile bonuses for the same night out.

I'll have to try this out. Way back, when I registered the same credit card with 2 different Idine accounts - didn't know I couldn't do it, Idine just closed the first account and kept the second one active.

But it probably won't work if the accounts are in the same name but using different credit cards?

I'll go ahead and move this thread to our Idine forum.
