Dual credit cards for same dine question.

Hi,

I've been a member of AAdvantage Dining for a while and am Elite there.

I just signed up for Priority Club Dining and registered for the Round The Bases Promotion and decided to get my first 12 dines "out of the way" towards Elite. I signed up my Visa and an AmEx on Priority Club Dining.

Friends and I went to a restaurant that does unlimited dining up to $600 with benefits every day. I had them split the bill between my Visa and AmEx. Both bills would be for over the $15 minimum for the Round The Bases Promotion. I figured I'd get credit for 2 dines. That was last month.

Only my AmEx dine showed up. My Visa dine didn't show up. I confirmed on my Information page that both credit cards are indeed registered.

My question is whether only they figured out I was trying for 2 dines and nixed rewarding one of the cards? Has this happened to anybody? Should I ask for credit?

You're entitled to both dines

Steve:

Call Rewards Network to inquire about a missing dine. Splitting the bill is perfectly OK at unlimited joints. Give them the Visa info when they ask; at that point I'd advise them that I split the bill, so that this is separate from the AMEX charge that came through OK.

FYI - multiple charges at the same joint, on the same day, for the exact same amount are automatically rejected by the system as "presumed duplicate billing errors." If this is your case, now you know to vary the tip to get totals that are 25 cents apart for Priority Club dines (and 20 cents apart for all other partners). For instance, if I had a (pre-tip) tab of $36.22 I'd ask the server to put exactly $20 on one card (leaving a zero tip), and $16.22 on the other, adding the tip for the entire meal (rounded to the nearest 25 cents). In this hypothetical case, 15% = $5.43, so (in theory) add $5.53 to obtain 2 tabs that multiply neatly by 8x to squeeze out exact PC points: $20.00/$21.75. You get the idea.
Moreover, as a caution, I'd never leave exactly $15, but $15.20 (or $15.25 for PC Dining). I've had a couple of joints round my tab down a penny ($5.00 came through as $4.99) for some internal reason of their own.

Good luck and let us know how it comes out!

Points,

Thanks for the reply. I'll give Rewards Networking/iDine) or whatever they bill themselves) a call. The two dines aren't identical since since I did what you said and threw all the tax on one of them. So this should help.

Thanks!
Steve :)

My wife and I dined last night. We waited at the bar before we were seated, where we charged $15 in drinks to the card we have linked to UA.
We then put our dinner on the same card.

This is an unlimited visits place.

Will these charges go through okay? I'm reading other posts here about multiple cards linked to the same account, etc., and want to make sure I'm okay. This is for the 25-dines, $25/ 25k miles bonus.

Thanks in advance.

I've done this many times, and both charges come through as separate dines. I've even had drinks at a place, then realized that buying a gift certificate would put me over a number-of-dines limit, and the drinks and gift certificate were counted separately, and I qualified for the bonus.

Unless, as others are saying, your dinner was also $15, on the same card, at the same place, in which case you may have to call Rewards Network to get it straightened out.

Just a reminder

For the current AA 2000-mile promo this will NOT work with the one-credit-per-restaurant-per-day in the T&C.
