Double dip?

I have a credit card linked to an old Transmedia -> iDine -> Rewards Network account. The Cash Back variety.

I signed up last week for the AAdvantage Dining and input the same card. It accepted it.

If I use this card at a place participating in standard Rewards Network and AA, what will happen? Will I get the discount and no points? Points and no discount credit? Both? Nothing at all?

Please let us know what happens when you try it.

Thanks.

Well, I don't have any "fast dines" near me so I'm not looking to experiment.......... Really hoping someone can confirm before I try :)

Can you still log in to your old cash back account? If so, does the card still show there too? (It could be that simply rather than complaining they removed the card from the previous account.)

If it's gone from there, then that would indicate it's not going to work for cash back.

If it's showing up both places at the same time (if you go both websites), then who knows! It could be they won't catch the problem at all, or it could they'll catch the problem but only when it tries posting.

If you go back to the AAdvantage Dining website and it's gone, it's not going to work for AA miles.

If you're the only one who's run into this, you may not find out until YOU try it!

(What do you mean, you don't have any "fast dines"? Your info at the left of every post cliaims you're in NY NY. There's TONS of iDIne places there, including many where you could simply get a drink (coffee, coke, beer, whatever) for a few bucks as an experiment.

And, btw, if you just signed up, you have to do 12 dines before you'll get 25 mi/$ with AA! So it'd be a good thing to do a bunch of those cheap dines ANYWAY (as long they end up working AT LEAST for AA miles), not just for the purpose of seeing whether you double dip...

I suppose I'll have to try and see :)

My only good "fast dine" was a coffee shop (DTUT) but it seems to have left the program. There's no "fast food chains" like McD's or anything in the program here. Almost all rnormal sit-down restaurants. I guess the best I can do for "fast dines" are a beer in a few restaurant/bars I noticed. I'm not comfortable going into a table service restaurant to try and charge a Coke ;-)

As long as theyare not once-per-month joints, you can have a drinkat the bar. You can also ask them if they would "split" a tab as two credit card charges also. Servers are very sympathetic to putting alcohol on a separate tab I've found for an extra dining credit.
