How to work in airline miles/ basic account question
 

I use Idine with my Holiday Inn Priority Club card.

I read here how you can gain airline miles as well.

How does this work? I've looked at idine's Web site but haven't seen the information I need.

You must register a different (set of) credit card(s) to each airline/iDine account in you'd like to earn miles. For example, AA's iDine is at:

http://aa.rewardsnetwork.com/

You can find the iDine program under the partner's links at each airline's website.

After you log on (or even just click on) each airlines web site, just look for their dining partner, and you will find the idine/rewards network site for that airline.

Even though there is only one idine/rewards network, you must register a different credit card for each program. (If you have 2 Visas, you can register card A to UA and card B to US - but you can not register card A to both UA and US>)

In addition to Priority Club hotel points, Rewards Network Dining (formerly known as iDine) operates with most major airlines as well. You can be a member of whichever, and as many, programs as you like. The only "restrictions" you need to be aware of are: a debit/credit card may be linked to only one partner program at a time (in other words, your Priorty Club credit card cannot be set up to start another account at this time) and you you cannot have an account with zero cards linked; you must either add another "un-linked" card first to switch an existing card to another partner, or else contact Rewards Network to close that account altogether at their end.

A note about one-visit-per-month joints: you get credit for each partner on the first visit per month per partner; if you dine using your Priority Club card on the 1st of the month, and use an airline-linked credit card on the final day, that's perfectly okay. You can also split a tab between two partner cards as well on the same visit, which can be very useful if you are trying to fulfill more than one promotion. What will not work is to use different cards linked to the same partner at those places - the charge the restaurant puts through "first" (even if by a minute or two) will get credit, and the "later one" is entitled to nothing.

Finally (and I mean to stress this heavily) - if a restaurant participates with one partner, DO NOT ASSUME you can earn miles/points with other ones there also without checking online first! Not all places participate with all partners, although most do so.

As for signing up for an airline partner, there are links from each airline's website to do so, usually under "earning miles with partners" or something like that.

Adding spouse card?
 

Not sure I've seen the answer to this anywhere. Can I link my spouse's AMEX which is an additional card on my AMEX, but with different account number (and name). Purpose would be for when she visits an iDine place without me (granted doesn't happen too often, but want to capture as many miles as possible.)

Saw this never got answered and was wondering the same. I added my wife's discover for a trip she had over the weekend. If I get the miles for adding her card, I'll report back.

yes, you can get miles for every unique card number that you add.

As pointed out by morgan1929, you can enroll your spouse's card into your preferred RN account and earn miles / points as if it were your card.

By the same token, your spouse can set up an account with another miles / points partner because the card is discretely numbered and you can choose which (or even split bills and "double dip") when dining.

Sorry to add more questions, but I had a question related to this. I added someone else's card into my Hilton Dining account. The points appear around 4 days after any of us has eaten at any participating restaurant. But we don't know when the points will be transfered to my hilton account. How long does it usually take?

Also do they crosscheck the dining rewards account name with the HH #? (or the credit card?)

Points transfer in a week or so, iirc. You will be able to see when RN "paid" the points (or miles) to the chain or airline.

I've registered a card not under my name before and the miles do post. I always wondered what happens if you get a missed dine that doesn't post automatically. It's been awhile since I read the Rewards Network Terms & Conditions. I think it might be against the rules to use cards not in your name. Of course, there is no problem with the automatic postings when the card number is captured correctly by Idine.

Has anyone ever had a dine manually posted to your account from a dine that was paid with a credit card not under your name but registered to your account?

It might not be as simple as that.

First, you can get a missing dine posted with either a receipt or a credit card statement.

Does the receipt have the credit card owner's name on it? That depends on the restaurant's receipt format!

Does the statement page you need to send (which needs to show the last 4 digits of the card number plus the transaction at the restaurant, not every page of the statement) have the credit card owner's name on it? That depends on the bank, and may further depend on which kind of statement (online transactions before statement pots, online version of statement, or physically mailed version of statement) you use.
