Hi, everyone. I cannot now remember whether or not I have set up Idine benefits with any of my previous credit cards.

In reading through these threads, I cannot understand why I missed this!

So, for this newbie, what is the best procedure to sign up? Should I go to the individual airline's website and click through that link, or should I just go to the idine site and sign up there? I have a few credit cards I plan to use. It is nice to be able to spread miles around, just to keep various ones from expiring, but I was not sure if that was possible without signing up multiple times.

I have accounts with most everyone, but tend to fly US mostly, just because I gre up in Buffalo. I am thinking of shifting most of my earning to UA, but also have accounts with AA, Delta and Continental.

I'd love the input, and thanks for helping with the basic questions!

Go to each airline's site and sign up with idine (or Rewards Network or whatever they now call it) there. But remember - you can ONLY register each credit card ONCE.

So if you only have 1 Amex, you can only register it with (say) DL - that same AMEX can not be registered with CO! But if you have 2 AMEX cards, you can register 1 with DL and the other with CO.

It's up to you which airline you want to earn with. Remember that both US and UA are *A, and both DL and CO are Sky Team, so you can "earn and burn" with either member.

I agree, it is an easy way to keep miles from expiring. I have 4 credit cards, registered with UA, US, DL and NW. :D

Now after you register one card with a given airline, is it then possible to change the association later?

Yes, you can switch the same card from partner to partner. However ...

A minimum of one card must be linked to each partner account. The system will not allow de-linking a "solo" card by members; zero cards linked closes the account, and can only be done by RN staff. In other words, to transfer a solo card to another partner account, you need to add a "place-holder" one first to free the desired card for removal.

A reminder while I'm at it. If you run across a one-visit-per-month joint it means once per partner per month. In other words, an AA-linked charge closes out AA for that month, but all other partners are still okay; works fine to split the same visit between airlines at those joints as well.
