Enterprise After Hours Return

Hi all,

have a tricky reservation coming up where I need the car for about 26 hours. I'm renting from a location that's open on Saturday's but closed on Sundays.

Let's say I to book it from 10am Saturday - 10am Sunday, and the Enterprise branch is closed all day Sunday. If I were to return it at Noon on Sunday... would enterprise know, or would they go thru the trouble of charging me for an extra day? If anyone has any experience with this please let me know.

Thanks!

I think it depends. Is it a local branch or an airport? A local branch may take the time to review footage, etc. upon check in, just to be difficult, (although I doubt it. )

You should just book it for 24 hours. Worst case scenario, they will just charge you for the extra hours. All upside and no downside with that approach.

Will Enterprise actually mark the car as returned on a day/time that the location is closed? When I've done similar with Avis and Hertz, they car is considered in your possession until they reopen and close the contract. They don't back-date the closing to when you (actually or said you would) drop off the car.

I think that this varies from one location to another.

In our experience, Enterprise will typically only charge you up to your reserved rental return time, even if the location is closed at that time. This often means that you could theoretically schedule your return for 5pm Saturday, and not return until say late Sunday night if the location was closed, and you'd end up getting a free day out of it.

This contrasts with Hertz where they will charge you until they check the vehicle in when they re-open on Monday morning.
