Why is the Ford Fusion Titanium not a premium car?

I rent Fusions pretty much every week for work. I always book the full-size rate and am almost always able to rent a Fusion Titanium (hybrid of Ecoboost) despite Fusion SEís being available.

Why isnít this a premium car?

It has:

- Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop (which many rentable luxury cars donít have, though I did drive a Jeep Grand Cherokee with it once)
- LED DRL, low- and high- beams (which many premium cars donít have)
- Lane Keeping and Blind-Spot Detection (which is 50/50)
- SUPER comfortable leather seats
- Memory seats with easy exit and auto recall,
- Heated and cooled seats with heated steering wheel
- Remote start
- CarPlay
- and other features!

Iíve rented several premium, luxury and specialty cars that donít have any of this. No other full-sizes have this. The Fusion Titanium is an anomaly.

Why is this car not a premium car?

Because "premium" is typically reserved for large sedans like the nearly-departed Chevy Impala and Ford Taurus, Chrysler 300, Toyota Avalon, etc. The Fusion has grown from midsize to full-size but doesn't quite fit the traditional large sedan segment.

I’m not understanding the hate here. I think the Fusion is absolutely amazing. Financed one for my wife, even. (The Energi variant.)
