Question Hertz rate anomaly: $334 for 10 days, $461 for 11 days !?

when i try to book for 12/19-12/30 at LGA with USAA CDP the base rate is $461 ($257/wk+$51x4). but if i quote 12/19-12/29 it changes to $334 ($208/wk+$42x3). this is happening only for USAA CDP. i've never seen this type of discrepancy before. the AAA code acts normally and increases rate proportionally.

does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

and using a free day PC code advertised on Hertz website jacks up the rate to $596 ($414/wk+$60x3). is Hertz going the way of Macy's "sale" price business-model?

For the coupon issue - I've definitely found that Hertz sometimes displays vastly different pricing when applying a coupon. It does seem very shady but seems to be how their system works.

For the dates - yes, different dates can give substantially different prices, particularly when it pushes you into extremely high demand times like Christmas, I guess New Years is one of those.

You might be able to work around it by booking to 12/29 and then just keeping the car another day, the late fee is only $12

so i can call and extend the rental after pickup and be charged the original daily rate plus a $12 fee? it doesn't readjust to the higher rate i got for 12/19-12/30?

and here's a doozy... just for giggles i tried 12/18-12/30 and got $278 ($162/wk+$23x5) base rate
so it's $183 cheaper to keep the car a couple days longer
thanks, Hertz!
