Incorrect pick up/drop off times on rental

I made a car reservation several weeks ago and neglected to check the hours it was set for. The original reservation is for Thursday noon to Monday noon with Alamo. My flight actually arrives and leaves around 6pm though, so I'd need to shift it by about 6 hours. Are rental companies normally reasonable about this or do I have a ton of overages in my future? Booking a brand new reservation for the correct times is pricing out at about 3x as the original booking

The major rental companies are generally fine with this. They understand that flights can be delayed, passengers can be re-routed, etc. The official policies vary by company, but with any of the majors, picking up 6 hours late is rarely a problem.

All of that said, to be on the safe side, you could always book a backup reservation with a different company for the correct times just to be on the safe side. Probably unnecessary, but better safe than sorry.
