Renting a car Under 21 in NC, USA

I am going to be in Lillington, North Carolina next month and wish to hire a car for the weekend.

Enterprise is the only car rental place in Lillington, NC however they won't rent to me as I am Under 21. They place I am at has a Enterprise Rent-A-Car’s Corporate Program too but Enterprise still won't rent to me.

I am 20 years old and from South Africa.

Does anybody know ways to get around this or which car rental companies would rent to Under 21 anywhere in North Carolina? I had a look at Hertz/Avis but they don't seem to either.

P.S. I can easily become a Hertz Gold Member or AVIS President's Club Membership through our bank if that somehow helps.

Thanks in advance

You can rent a car under 21, but it will cost more and the options will be limited and some places may refuse to rent at all. Also, just because that certain enterprise location refuses to rent to under 21's doesnt mean the whole of NC wont rent to a 20 year old.

The real age for no rental surcharge is 25. Anyone renting to people under that is going to charge more. Just like anyone renting to under 21's is going to charge even more and be subject to even more rules.

Hertz will for sure rent you a car. Check the thread: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hertz...0-21-24-a.html

I used CDP "1911795" to waive the young renter fee(im 23). But you may have to show company ID and im not sure how that would work with you being from SA.

But yeah, enterprise will actually rent to people under 21 its just that certain locations wont. Its going to cost through the nose to rent at 20 though if you dont get the fee waived.

See above link. Only exceptions to the under 21 rule at Enterprise is New York, Michigan, Military, and replacement rentals with certain insurance companies. So in short, you'll be out of luck in North Carolina.
