As I now have the car, I can report back re: liability insurance documents for future reference if anyone is looking for the answer:
The glovebox does indeed have the liability insurance document in it, even in CA....Speculation, but It seems to me that they might have state minimums on the car, despite them not being required to.

I believe all the major players in the US only cover state minimums.
Contrast that in certain countries in Europe (eg Germany) where liability coverage is provided as part of every rental with limits in the millions of EUR.

Curious about this as well..anyone know where they are putting them first?
State minimums are indeed a joke. Any accident above a very minor fender bender (especially if medical expenses are involved) can easily exceed the basic insurance by magnitudes. Seriously, everyone consider supplemental liability in the states if not covered under an existing auto insurance plan!

2017 now make up 20% of SFO fleet. I'm making an educated guess that it would amount to 50 cars based on the fact that an operation with similar scale like LAX has a little <220 A4s in operation. It is worth requesting for since the interior cabin is massively upgraded.
Last time I was in LAX, they were starting their rollout of the new model. EDIT: PM for referral code!

Rented again from Silvercar at ORD. Pickup is now from the Bus/Shuttle Center, which might be a decent walk from your terminal. When I mentioned this to the pickup driver, he said they could pick up from the terminal, if you requested. So, you might want to do that. Location is in the same place, about a 10 minute drive from ORD, so roughly the same distance/time as the Hertz/Avis/National lots.
Also, FYI, our pickup was in an A4, so if you've got five people in your group, you should let them know when you request pickup, otherwise you're not all going to fit into the car (since there's room for four plus the Silvercar rep).
Car was a 2016 A4, about 28k miles, looks and drives like new. The rep said they had four or five 2017s in the fleet, and would be getting more, but that they're "bottom of the list," with SFO, LAX, DEN, AUS, and MIA being the locations that get the new cars first. He also mentioned that vehicles get taken out of the fleet once they hit 35k miles.

DEN was sold out over Christmas. DEN seems to be sold out quite a bit....
Ask in advance if you want ski racks. The person told me the last time I was there that these usually are the first to go unless you've requested it.
Sounds like most fleet vehicles.

Did my first silvercar rental this weekend in San Francisco (I live here, but have no need for owning a car myself). With all the rain this weekend the quatto all-wheel drive system has been amazing driving on 101 and 880. I had a 2017 model.
Agent was super helpful in explaining everything during pickup. I'd definitely use this service again.

Does anyone know the value of these cars?
My amex platinum covers me for vehicles up to $60k (thanks to the current exchange rate...)
I did send them a message on facebook to ask them, but didn't hear back.
Secondly, does anyone know what the one way supplement is between LAX and LAS?
I think I recall a number of several hundred, which would make it pointless.

-actually just poked around on the configurator as if I were buying one, and struggle to get one past $48k, so should be comfortably under.
