I'm in the Business lounge in LHR now enjoying a Hermoles meal of Meat Casserole with a spring roll and sheperds pie. No advance arrangement was required, just enquire with Guest Services upon arrival

This is all news to me, and very interesting. As I almost never fly BA or LH, does anybody know if AC or EK might offer the same service in the Heathrow lounge ?

In Terminal 3, Virgin offer it in their LHR lounge (though from a different company, not Hermolis). I had a choice of 3 or 4 entrees there. At the time, SQ C could get in to the Virgin clubhouse.

At MUC they have them in stock, but they are longlife Stogel meals so not worth it.
Does anyone have a recent experience regarding kosher meals in the FCT at FRA? Do I need to contact them to order in advance?

Anyone have any recent BA experience with Kosher meals? I'm flying LHR-YYZ in first. I have a 4 hour layover in LHR -- is there still an option to request a kosher meal while in the LHR lounge on the day of travel?

You'll be able to order a full meal in the Concorde Room (PM me if you need the number to call - you can request it when you get there but it's better to call in advance if you can) and if you really like what you get in the lounge they'll probably be OK with you taking another one with you for the flight (and/or a breakfast if you prefer).

On board you'll get a lunch plus afternoon tea. If you can tell us about when you'll be travelling we might be able to find out what the menu will probably be. Could be fish or meaty starter and same for the main. I had an absolutely amazing starter last month of sliced duck breast with cranberries and grapefruit - and the main was lamb. The "tea" was two very hefty wraps - with saltbeef and Coronation Chicken.

Hope that helps!

Hiall,

Is the Concorde lounge number the same as the Gold lounge number (which I have)? Is the food in Concorde different to the Gold or the same (i,e, choice of meat balls, poached salmon or chinese? style chicken noodles)?

I am flying First with my wife to MIA in Dec 31 and would be interested to know as I need to stock the body with food before the Fast of Tevet on Jan 1st (even if its only a few hours during the day).

Whats the food like from MIA? When coming J from Montreal it is always economy meal (but lots of air-miles in compensation!!!)

Many thanks from an IN-frequent F flyer....

I always order kosher within EU, but was wondering what the experiences (recent ones) are with kosher in international F on BA. Couldn't see much discussed - is it same meals from Y to F, or are F kosher much better?

Depends where you're flying from....
  • From LHR you'll get better Hermolis KSMLs in J/F than in W/Y. Main course for J/F may be the same but presented differently and F will have a couple of extra bits. Should always be fresh (vs frozen) but sometimes on Sunday / after Chag it'll be frozen. Menu rotates about every three months.
  • Ex USA it's all Borenstein rubbish and pretty much all frozen. Dinner will be pickled mackerel / pasta salad / roast chicken breast with redskin potatoes and snow peas / sponge cake with pineapple. Menu rotates every century.
  • Ex South America and Australia F meals are likely to be same as Y/J and served on plastic. Locally sourced.
  • Ex Asia it'll probably be frozen Hermolis. Hot smoked salmon starter / pasta salad / roast chicken. Breakfast will be smoked salmon and cheese / fruit salad / omelette with baked beans, sauteed potatoes, mushrooms and grilled tomato. Menu seems also to rotate every decade or so - perhaps longer. Used to be presented on BA china setup but they had too many breakages so now on plastic.
  • Ex Israel it'll be Hamasbia and same main asJ class. Maybe choice of fish or chicken. A bit better than it used to be but not much to write home about.
  • Ex CPT it'll be a humungous plastic picnic from Goldies Deli and the advantage it that you can go there a day or two before the flight and choose your menu. Not the most well-presented of meals but plenty of choice. Quality is basic canteen food - not much to write home about.

If you looke at the BA forum, I put a few pictures on BA28 in F with a KSML-meal was very good. From LHR, the meals in F are very tasty as mentioned by FF.
