Delta and not flying on Shabbat? Potential issues.

I have two options for flying to Tel Aviv on Delta. 1. transfer in CDG and arrive 2.25 hours before Shabbat, or 2. transfer in BOS and arrive 1.5 hours before Shabbat.

I know neither is ideal. That isn't the question.

if there is a delay or other issue that makes arriving on time unlikely, does Delta have a policy regarding someone who can't fly on Shabbat? Would this policy or any response be more favourable in BOS than CDG?

Thanks.

Wouldn't this fall under the umbrella principle that airlines take no responsibility over what happens to you on the ground because of a delay? I'm sure Delta's reply would be, fly a day early so as not to cut it too close. Or fly El Al. They would take Shabbat into account.

I've not looked into the specifics of religious accommodation law with regards to airline delays, but I doubt the airline would have a problem if you needed to stay on the ground a bit longer due to a delay if there was some kind of IRROPS. Most folks are looking to get on the soonest possible flight, so you may actually be helping the airline by saying you'll take a flight 48 hours later or whatever.

This "principle" does not apply in the EU, where the airline has a duty of care (including hotels) regardless of the reason for the delay.
