Just signed up through the Amex link and it is showing my tier as Red, not Gold. I tried logging out and back in. Will see if it takes a day or two to update. The text on the left also mentions both gold and silver, so not sure which you are supposed to get.

I am also looking for a promo code. I have a stay coming up next week and I'd like to find some sign up bonus, however everything I've found (including the 2K) is expired. :(
