How to track your status qualification?
Is there something I'm missing? There doesn't seem to be any way (when logged into your account) to calculate how many nights/stays you have completed for the year. I know I can keep track in my head of this progress, but seeing it on the computer screen would make it so much easier.
Also, in a recent e-mail from Club Carlson, it stated that Points & Cash reservations made online will receive the 2,000 online booking points bonus. Does anyone know, or have had any experience, in a Points & Cash stay counting as an elite qualifying night/stay? The details of the rate state that the cash portion will receive GoldPoints, but no mention of it being elite qualifying. Thanks for any info and input. :) |

You could log on to your account, set the display dates to Jan 1, 2011 to present and all the activity on your account will be displayed. Then you could count how many stays you have had so far, or how many nights you have had so far. Or you could set up a simple spreadsheet that counts the stays and nights for you, where you could input the info after each stay.

Thanks for any info and input. :) I received my first quarterly e-mail with nights/ stays listed. I thought this was nice to see, so I sent in an e-mail asking if this info was available on-line. This was their response: Thank you for taking the time to write. Carlson hotels sends out quarterly emails showing your progress in stays/nights for the calendar year. Currently a plan is being implemented to show this information on clubcarlson.com. Look for this in late 2011/ early 2012. I always get the 2000pts for booking online, and the stays all count for elite qualification. For my purposes, it is a good use of points; I stay in Iceland a lot and 10000pts takes the rate from 170 Eur to 102 Eur per night, a savings of $98. |

All I really care about is maximizing the value of points earned. Just using points, the same room would cost 38000 pts. So using the P & C rate, I'm getting better value for points used. |

The hotel quotes rates in Euros, and 10000 points saves me 68 (170-102) Euros, but my credit card charges me in USD. So the Points & Cash rate saves me 68 Euros, which is 98 USD, when it comes time to pay the bill.

A lot of hotels that I would use this at charge only 5K points + the cash portion. Although the cash portion varies depending upon what the prevailing rate for that day is. It's almost like getting a reduced rate after the earning of the 2K online bonus, and according to the rate rules, the goldpoints for the cash part of the stay; so maybe it's giving up 1k or 2K points in the end. And I'm most concerned about earing stay credit, rather than the accumulation goldpoints at this point in the calendar year. |
