I guess they will pass you the codes that are mentioned in this thread:

Read the thread and you'll see that you don't need to buy it.

Quick question about these kinds of promotions. If I enter the promo code in the box whilst opening a new GP+ account, will that work, or do I need to contact the Member Service Centre and wait for them to take manual action on this?

I have come to learn not to take anything for granted with Goldpoints. When I did my silver upgrade they were rather good and gave me confirmation on the spot. The upgrade was posted to my account within 24 hours so this might not be a bad way to go about it if you have the spare time to make the call.
You could of course just try the code online and then sit back and be ready to chase them up but if you have a forthcoming stay where the points bonus would be useful then I'd call.
Don't expect too much from being a silver (or gold) and you'll be fine.

and also do not trust them.

next step for them will be removing the
"Our World - Your Lounge"
after that they will make it
"Our World - Our Lounge, so pls stay away"

Signed up for a Goldpoints account on-line. Then, called the number on this promo link. Was "Silver" instantly.

i used the orange promo last year to get silver elite for a stay in Malta last may. i dont often stay in radissons and havent used it again since. but am now looking at a couple of stays where it could be worthwhile. I cant see when i got silver on my profile and dont want to nudge then into noticing its expiring. does it generally just disappear after a year? can you use a promo to get it back again? thanks

Can't say this silver stuff does a thing for me. I just stayed at the Radisson Austin Town Lake and got zip--not even an acknowledgement of status . Austin is expensive and I had hoped for better.

Exactly the same for me in my second year of gold. Fingers crossed for some recognition when I go to Malta in a couple of weeks but I'm not expecting anything so won't be too disappointed when it doesn't happen.
