Concierge

Where did you stay?
Park Inn, Oslo (Øvre Slottsgate) Norway

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Booked a standard room. Upgraded to a room with balcony.

Did you receive elite benefits?
- Room upgrade: Yes
- Early Check In: Not needed
- Late Check Out: Not needed
- In-Room Welcome Gift: Fruit plate and chocolates

How are the rooms?
Very small. OK for one, very cosy for two!

What was good, what was bad?
Good: Great location, and lovely check in staff member.

Bad: Size of room, noisy A/C that couldn't be turned off.

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
two nights for 30,000 points and 1,674 NOK (£154). Probably would come back if I got a good rate

Radisson Blu Waterfront, Stockholm, Sweden

What is your Club Carlson status?
Concierge

Where did you stay?
Radisson Blu Waterfront, Stockholm, Sweden

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a standard room. No upgrade as hotel was full (it wasn't but all the business class and suites had gone as there was a conference on next door, the guy at check in did seem to spend some time looking for a better room)

Did you receive elite benefits?
- Room upgrade: No
- Early Check In: Not needed
- Late Check Out: Yes to 15:00
- In-Room Welcome Gift: Fruit plate and chocolates and water

How are the rooms?
Fine but I was disappointed they had made no effort to give me a room with a view of the Radhus or a drinks voucher by way of compensation

What was good, what was bad?
Good: Great location beside station for the Arlanda Express.

Bad:
(i) I was literally shouted at waiting at reception "I'm helping someone else already" when I was queuing at the Club Carlson desk to ask about a late check out all before I had said anything;
(ii) breakfast not provided and had to show Concierge Card on the first day before it was rectified;
(iii) very long hoover extension just lay outside the room for over 24 hours.

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Two nights for 40,000 points and 2754 SEK (£251). Not good value without an upgrade. This is the second time my Concierge status has not been recognised at the Waterfront, and having been shouted at I shall never stay there again.

Very big but very dated,

What was good, what was bad?
Good:
(i) close to central train station
(ii) ate in the restaurant, served by a charming helpful waitress.

Bad:
(i) very dated and in need of a refresh e.g. the carpet was aquamarine, plum and green (!);
(ii) only given Silver discount on the meal of 10% instead of 20% had to point this out despite handing over my Concierge Card;

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?

Quorvus G&V Edinburgh

What is your Club Carlson status?
Concierge

Where did you stay?
Quorvus G&V Edinburgh, Scotland, UK

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a standard room. Upgraded to a 'curated suite'.

Did you receive elite benefits?
- Room upgrade: Yes
- Early Check In: Not needed
- Late Check Out: Not needed
- In-Room Welcome Gift: Fruit plate and chocolates, hand written card welcoming me back

How are the rooms?
Room 516 was sumptuous. Located up a private spiral staircase overlooking the Royal Mile, big living room with chaise longue, lovely original artworks, poems on the walls and shutters.

What was good, what was bad?
Good: Room was beautiful to look at and bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was very good the eggs benedict were perfect on day one and the Full Scottish on day two.

Bad: Original wooden windows with shutters meant that there was a bit of noise from the street. No air conditioning but being in Edinburgh that would almost never be required... Only small fault was there was nowhere to hang towels once used.

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
This was my last 2for1 and so at £259 total cost with the upgrade was terrific value. But as I will slip to Gold next year I wouldn't expect to get such a good upgrade next time. With 2for1 now gone I wouldn't stay here again as a weekend stay now becomes very expensive without a room upgrade nor free breakfast.

Where did you stay?
Radisson Blu Wroclaw

Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
I booked standard room and got upgraded to executive suite. I have no idea what happened.

Did you receive elite benefits?
Complimentary Room Upgrade - Yes and it was quite an upgrade!
Early Check In/Late Check Out - Not requested.

How are the rooms?
My suite was pretty large and I loved the bathroom.

What was good and what was bad?
Well, an upgrade was certainly a good experience. Location is also very nice. On the downside, parking is a bit expensive and staff was more distant than I'm used to at Blu (but still very good).

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Two nights in executive suite for 58000 Gold Points is quite a value. Irrespective of upgrade, I'd be happy to stay here next time I'm in Wroclaw.

Where did you stay?
Radisson Blu Aqua - Chicago, IL

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Booked a standard room using free Friday night certificate to celebrate anniversary staycation;

Received upgrade to suite, top floor 18, balcony, Millennium Park view, access to EL

Did you receive elite benefits?
- Room upgrade: Yes
- Early Check In: Yes
- Late Check Out: Yes
- In-Room Welcome Gift: Yes, 2 bottles of fancy water, cake; 2 Drink coupons to use at restaurant, used for $15 cocktails.
Room already had 4 bottles of water. Nespresso machine, robes, etc

How are the rooms?
Room was large, modern.

What was good, what was bad?
Good: Everything. Very nice room, decent EL with plenty of self service wine and beer (No liquor), a decent number of snacks, hot and cold food. For breakfast, mostly continental choices. But very nice presentation, layout, etc Staff is great.

Bad: Nothing.

Value for money? Would you return?
Excellent value.
This is hands down the best Radisson I have stayed. Great Elite recognition. Suite upgrade both times I have stayed on points.

The 2nd floor has a large health club, basketball court, spa, lockers, steam, sauna, outside running track, indoor, out door pool, etc.

The only warning, is that on one side of the building, there is a fire station, so you will hear sirens at all times (evident when entering the building and in balcony). I was on south side, top floor, did not hear it once when inside room.

Radisson Blu Berlin

What is your Club Carlson status?
Gold

Where did you stay?
Radisson Blu Berlin

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard room and received a junior suite. A double upgrade according to the front desk. Thanks to this upgrade, breakfast was also included.

Did you receive elite benefits?
  • Complimentary Room Upgrade: Yes
  • Early Check In/Late Check Out: arrived late, asked for 3 PM checkout, got 2 PM
  • In-Room Welcome Gift: an apple and some nuts but only on the second or third day of the stay
How are the rooms?
Nice, roomy.

What was good and what was bad?
The only negative was that the in-room coffee was not refilled on 2nd day of the stay and we had to ask for this. All the rest was very good.

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Booked 2 nights @ 50K and the third one at 15K + ~93 EUR. Would definitely return.

Where did you stay?
Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked superior room (the lowest category at Park Plaza) and got superior room. However, it was in a newer part of the hotel, on quiet side and on one of the higher floors.

Did you receive elite benefits?
  • Complimentary Room Upgrade: No - but that may be related to very early check-in.
  • Early Check In/Late Check Out: I arrived at 10:30 (normal check-in time is 14:00) and was given room straight away. I've not requested late check-out.
  • In-Room Welcome Gift: After arrival, bottle of water, package of (tasty!) stroopwafel and a welcome note was delivered to my room. I also got another, larger, package of stroopwafel at check-out, although I'm not sure if this is related to status.
How are the rooms?
Standard Park Plaza room. I liked sofa in the room, which was very comfortable. Bathroom was a bit smaller than I'm used to from Park Plazas in London.

What was good and what was bad?
This was the first time someone actually recognized my status and thanked me for loyalty at CC property. As usual at Park Plaza, service was excellent, although maybe a bit too formal. Negative would be absence of bathtub.

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
This stay was on Free Friday Night voucher but I would be tempted to return even on their usual rates.

Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked studio room and got upgrade to one bedroom apartment.

Did you receive elite benefits?
  • Complimentary Room Upgrade: Yes
  • Early Check In/Late Check Out: I requested late check-out and got late check-out until 18:00
  • In-Room Welcome Gift: Yes, bottle of mineral water and plums in chocolate.
How are the rooms?
Room was comfortable and modern. This is recently opened hotel, so everything is still fresh.

What was good and what was bad?
Room was comfortable. Good price quality ratio. Room was a bit noisy because the tram runs near the hotel but it did not disturb me.

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
I had my stay with a good price, so I would return if the price is same.

Where did you stay?
Park Inn by Radisson Riga Valdemara, Latvia

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard room without breakfast and got upgrade to superior room without breakfast.

Did you receive elite benefits?
  • Complimentary Room Upgrade: Yes
  • Early Check In/Late Check Out: Yes, I requested late check-out at 13 and I got it.
  • In-Room Welcome Gift: At the beginning no, had to ask it and then got bottle of mineral water and some sweets.
How are the rooms?
Room was comfortable and modern. This is recently opened hotel, so everything is still fresh. I got room with balcony and view to the city center.

What was good and what was bad?
Room was comfortable and staff friendly. Parking is complimentary for hotel guests which is great perk. If you are coming with car from city center then it is quite difficult to reach the hotel especially if you are first time at that area.

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
I had OK stay.

Good value on points

Some refurbishment ongoing in the older part of the hotel. The reception, bar and lobby were clearly rebuilt recently
If you end up on the new section its a bit of go up floor, cross, lift again.
Sounds proofing of doors could do with some work

Park Inn Riga Valdemara

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard room, got superior room which was a corner room and featured (pretty large) balcony.

Did you receive elite benefits?
Complimentary Room Upgrade - Yes
Early Check In/Late Check Out - Asked for 3PM and got it approved.
In-Room Welcome Gift - Yes, fruit plate.

How are the rooms?
Rooms are small (as described in a booking system) but otherwise beautiful and comfortable.

What was good and what was bad?
Good: Staff and all aspects of room except size.
Bad: Breakfast on a second morning. They were pretty good on a first day and then on the second, all hot items disappeared leaving very little choice.

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Yes, with rates around 50 euros you get comfortable (albeit compact) room in a modern property, short tram ride from the city centre and with convenient access to the airport. Service as well as status recognition were perfect.
