Park Plaza Orchid, Tel Aviv

- What is your Club Carlson status?
Gold

- Where did you stay?
Park Plaza Orchid, Tel Aviv

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard room with king bed for points at the start and end of our trip. Was not upgraded on the first two nights, but was upgraded to a suite on the last night.

- Did you receive elite benefits?
First two nights: No room upgrade and no welcome gift
Second two nights: Room upgrade but no welcome gift

- How are the rooms?
Standard room was okay, a bit cramped in the bathroom.
Suite was much better. Lovely balcony overlooking the sea and the room was very spacious, in particular the bathroom.

- What was good and what was bad?
The location is excellent and offers easy access to the beach. The shopping areas are within a short walk. The free bike rental was greatly appreciated. We found the staff to be excellent and very helpful. The breakfast buffet was included for points stays and was fine.

- Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
44,000 points for the standard room might be a bit high, but definitely good value if you get the upgrade to the suite. I would stay here again, but might prefer to book with money instead if the price is right.

Radisson Blu Tala Bay (Aqaba Jordan)

- What is your Club Carlson status?
Gold

- Where did you stay?
Radisson Blu Tala Bay (Aqaba Jordan)

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, very happy.

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard room with king bed using the 4-for-2 rate, but was upgraded to the king suite with sea view.

- Did you receive elite benefits?
Room upgrade and a delicious fruit/sweet plate on the first night.

- How are the rooms?
Excellent. The rooms were spacious and modern, including the bathroom. The balcony gave excellent views over the Red Sea. It might have been the nicest Radisson I have stayed at.

- What was good and what was bad?
The location is outside of town but there are a few small restaurants/shops/dive centers in the area. There is a Thrifty/Dollar car rental on site and Petra and Wadi Rum can be done as day trips (although it is best to take them separate). Snorkeling can be easily done from the private beach, although the best corals were 200-300 m north of the private area. There are 5 pools, so there are areas to spread out and the kids pool is kept to one area of the resort. It was low season, so there was ample space around the pool and in particular the beach (where we hung out). I can see that in high season space can get a bit cramped, but it was perfect for low season. Breakfast was great and the service was excellent.

No negatives from our stay, but I can envision that it can get quite loud and crowded in high season when there are lots of families.

- Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
With the 4-for-2 rate we averaged 60 JOD per night, which would have been good value for the standard room. With the upgrade to the suite, it was a great deal. We generally steer clear of resorts, but enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

radisson BLU 1919 Iceland

- What is your Club Carlson status?

gold

- Where did you stay? (Brand, Location, Country) Also put in the post title.

Radisson BLU 1919

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, for the most part

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Business Room on Points, paid for upgrade to Junior suite, no offer to bump me for free was offered.

- Did you receive elite benefits?

No, The bottles of water which were brought up were included with the room.
- What was good and what was bad?

Rooms were extremely modern with clean lines etc... Decent size for a European hotel. The location is the best aspect as it is center of town. That is also its slight downfall as you will need earplugs to sleep at night with the drunks roaming around at all hours of the night. Staff was very friendly but kept getting certain paperwork mixed up such as breakfast every morning. It was included but they tried to give me a bill every time and then fixed the problem.

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?

Yes, the country is very very expensive and being in the middle of it all makes it worthwhile.

- Where did you stay?
Radisson Blu Plaza, Sydney

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard room with twin beds for points for 4 days with a 1 day break. Got upgraded to a spa suite/corner room on both stays.

- Did you receive elite benefits?
First two nights: Water bottles, Chocolates
Second two nights: Water bottles, Teddies for kids(2 of them)

- How are the rooms?
Very spacious corner room, spa

- What was good and what was bad?
The location is excellent and offers easy access to the Opera House and Harbor bridge. We found the staff & concierge to be excellent and very helpful.

- Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Very good point for money as Sydney is costly. 50,000 points for the corner room is good, and we paid for 2 nights and stayed for 4.

Park Plaza Orchid, Tel Aviv

I was upgraded to ocean front suite, and also was allowed to check in at 5am. Had welcome gift of dates, nuts, fruit.

Booked on points and used the last night free credit card benefit.

I have Gold status through the Club Carlson Visa card. Stayed four nights
at the Radisson Blu Budapest from May 26 through May 29. Booked a standard room for 27,000 points (three nights for 9,000 points per night, last night free). No welcome gift. However, although I booked with points, I received an upgrade to a one bedroom suite, which was huge (the size of a one bedroom apartment). The hotel is located at a great location in downtown Pest. Staff was friendly and professional. No complaints at all.

Radisson Blu Marina Palace Hotel Turku, Finland

- What is your Club Carlson status?
Gold

- Where did you stay?
Radisson Blu Marina Palace Hotel Turku

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard room for 2-4-1, got upgraded to 6th floor business class room

- Did you receive elite benefits?
Mineral water bottle, few fruits and late check-out at 16 pm.

- How are the rooms?
Decent rooms by size and decor, really nothing special. The rooms on the riverside obviously have a lot nicer views, we got a lousy parking lot view.

- What was good and what was bad?
Lovely location right next to the Turku river and we really liked their new "adults only" summer breakfast concept at the first floor/terrace. I wish they would offer better welcome gifts, like drink vouchers etc. as the other Radissons in Finland usually do.

- Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Was excellent value on the 2-4-1-rate, we will return sometime.

- Where did you stay?
Westminster Bridge Park Plaza, London UK

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
No

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard room cash and points. Upon check in was told that there were no rooms available for upgrade but told me to hold on. He then disappeared for 4 minutes to the office and came back to say he could upgrade we to an iconic view room of Big Ben for 50% of the cost. I declined and said why couldn't I get an upgrade to that room but he said he couldn't as it was more than one class above the room I had booked [is that in the terms and conditions?]. I replied it that I had been upgraded to suites in the past but had never been invited to pay and wouldn't now. After that an upgrade to a lower class room "suddenly" became available and I was given that.

- Did you receive elite benefits?
No, not even a welcome gift

- How are the rooms?
Very nice separate living area from bed

- What was good and what was bad?
Good: separate Club Carlson check in
Bad: this hotel is always heaving and staff are stretched

- Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
I do like this hotel but it is expensive. I got a points and cash rate of £130.

I forget how much I paid but it was in the recent offer (summer bonanza or something). It was only marginally cheaper than my separate booking but I did save a few euros.

Where did you stay? (Brand, Location, Country)
Radisson Blu, Hotel Elizabete, Rīga, Latvia

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel?
Yes, but it wasn't particularly exciting

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Did you receive elite benefits?
Complimentary Room Upgrade - Yes to Business Class Room
Early Check In/Late Check Out - not required
In-Room Welcome Gift - Yes, a bottle of red wine, posh tempered chocolate and yoghurt and chocolate raisins in a brown paper bag tied up with string - I was nearly singing "My Favourite Things" from the Sound of Music...! And additionally a bottle of water each day and a liqueur chocolate filled with Rīga Black Balsam. I felt very very welcomed indeed.

How are the rooms?
Medium size room. Dark wood which is not my favourite. Wash basin spills out to bedroom. Very red headboard gave it a "boudoir" feel - maybe that was deliberate this is the only hotel where I have noticed condoms on the mini bar list

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Power points by bed to charge phones
Nice atrium (open air to have breakfast)

Bad:
Hotel was old fashioned
Scatter cushions on bed had ribbon with menu insets (tacky)

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
€175 in total for two nights. just about ok. I think I would try the Latvija next time.

Concierge

Where did you stay? (Brand, Location, Country)
Radisson Blu Olümpia Hotel, Tallinn

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Okay, but nothing special a hotel whose best days are behind it

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard, received "superior" but all that is, is a room with a view of the old city and even at concierge level I only got to floor 16 out of 24...

Did you receive elite benefits?
Complimentary Room Upgrade - Yes
Early Check In/Late Check Out - Not required
In-Room Welcome Gift - Yes a small bottle of water and a smaller tin of mints
There was a note welcoming me back as a valued Club Carlson member - but front desk said because it was my first time in the hotel policy was to pay in advance! Compared to my getting a suite at the Royal hotel earlier in the week you would think this older hotel (that has seen better days) would be fighting to attract the loyalty of CC members who might be more likely to return.

How are the rooms?
Small and old and tired. A hymn to brown and chrome. It had a hospital type chrome and Formica trolley that can reach over bed the sort they use in hospitals

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
A funky wet room but easy to get rest of bathroom soaked
The nicest feature was a little row of turquoise LED lights over the glasses
Good view

Bad:
Small room 18 square meters - room width just slightly longer than the bed

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
I got a 5,000 points plus €55 deal for room but I'd pay more to stay at the Radisson Blu Sky hotel just down the road next time.
