Please post your Radisson Rewards Elite experiences

This thread on the Priority Club forum is really useful to get a quick review of a hotel. As the Club Carlson forum grows, I thought it would help that we have a similar thread to share our experiences.

- What is your Club Carlson status?
- Where did you stay? (Brand, Location, Country) Also put in the post title.
- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
- Did you receive elite benefits?
  • Silver: Complimentary Room Upgrade, Early Check In/Late Check Out
  • Gold: Complimentary Room Upgrade, Early Check In/Late Check Out, In-Room Welcome Gift
  • Concierge: Complimentary Room Upgrade, Early Check In/Late Check Out, In-Room Welcome Gift, Free Continental Breakfast
- How are the rooms?
- What was good and what was bad?
- Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?

What is your Club Carlson status?
Gold

Where did you stay? (Brand, Location, Country)
Park Inn, Heathrow, UK

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Okay, but nothing special

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard, received Business room

Did you receive elite benefits?
Complimentary Room Upgrade - Yes
Early Check In/Late Check Out - Not required
In-Room Welcome Gift - No
Also, welcomed as a gold member at check in although the agent disappeared for five minutes to print the letter.

How are the rooms?
Decent size, but old and tired. For a business room the workspace was very small and did not have an adjustable chair.

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Parking included in rate (a rarity at LHR)
Bad:
Check in was slow

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Booked through corporate travel, and this is now our 'preferred hotel' for the office. However, with my own money I'd stay elsewhere.

Park Inn, Leigh, UK

Yes, although I was only there for an hour

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard, received the same.

Did you receive elite benefits?
n/a

How are the rooms?
Modern, clean and comfortable. The bathroom did not have a bath which may be negative for some, but I felt the large walk in shower was much better.

What was good and what was bad?
No problems.

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
At Ł45 it was great value.

Gold

Where did you stay? (Brand, Location, Country)
Radisson Blu, Stansted, UK

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Not really.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard, received standard with a roll away bed set up in the room. Also the room was internal facing towards the atrium, with a direct view of the walkway and the elevators

Did you receive elite benefits?
Complimentary Room Upgrade - No
Early Check In/Late Check Out - Not required
In-Room Welcome Gift - No

How are the rooms?
The TV is very small, and there was no armchair (possibly due to the presence of the un-requested roll away bed).

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Was not charged for parking
Bad:
Indifferent staff

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Would consider if I was flying from Stansted, but otherwise see no reason to return.

Just did it for 44k point promo, can't really comment if paying since i haven't really checked other hotel's rate in the area, (rate was $76++)

Where did you stay? (Brand, Location, Country)
Radisson Suite Sukhumvit, Bangkok, Thailand

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
It's pretty decent. But lobby was under construction.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard, no upgrade

Did you receive elite benefits?
Complimentary Room Upgrade - No
Early Check In/Late Check Out - Not required
In-Room Welcome Gift - No

How are the rooms?

What was good and what was bad?
Good (and bad): Close to Sukhumvit (and a couple of skytrain), but still a bit of walk (300m?) from the actual Sukhumvit road.

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?

Just did it for 50k point promo. Rate was decent enough ($65)
But if paying for vacation, probably not.
In Bangkok you can find other much nicer hotels at slightly more. (especially if you have status at other chain). And there's plenty of deal/sale always going on.

Where did you stay? (Brand, Location, Country)
Radisson Blu Liverpool, UK

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Neutral.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard, received Business room

Did you receive elite benefits?
Complimentary Room Upgrade - Yes, incl Breakfast for Business Room
Early Check In/Late Check Out - Not required
In-Room Welcome Gift - No

How are the rooms?
Decent, rooms exactly the same as standard room I had at the property at a different stay, just higher floor, bathrobe & slippers and Nespresso machine. Room had dust in all corners, I even wrote a message to housekeeping in the dust on the floor. Bath tub's drainage partially blocked. Window dirty from INSIDE.

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Upgrade and breakfast. Free access to the health club and its swimming pool, sauna and steam room. I had all of those facilities for myself.

Bad:
cleanliness of room.

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
had a decent rate, and would return if in Liverpool again if they sort out their room cleaning and housekeeping.

Where did you stay? (Brand, Location, Country)
Radisson Blu Edwardian Vanderbilt Kensington, London, UK

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes fairly happy

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard single room, upgraded to standard double room

Did you receive elite benefits?
Complimentary Room Upgrade - Yes, had to ask though
Early Check In/Late Check Out - Not required
In-Room Welcome Gift - No

How are the rooms?
Average. Bed is standard double. Bathroom small but good shower pressure. The hotel is inside an old building and there doesn't seem to have been much renovation inside so 'feels' old. Small LCD TV & room on the small size.

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Upgrade given. Excellent central London location.

Bad:
Rooms old and small. I imagine that the single room would be tiny. Could do with some refurbishment to liven up the interior.

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
I used gold points. 10,000 + Ł50 on a Friday night for the single room (which was upgraded to a double) and this is great value for central London and I would return on this rate. I would pay up to ~Ł90 without points but no more than this unless they did some refurbishment inside.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
No.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked "King Deluxe Room" and received the same.

Did you receive elite benefits?
Complimentary Room Upgrade - No
Early Check In/Late Check Out - Not required
In-Room Welcome Gift - No

How are the rooms?
Superficially the rooms look great, modern styling, etc. Look a picture and you'd probably think it was very nice luxury five star hotel (as it describes itself). However, our room on the 4th floor was awful. It was internal facing and was completely exposed to the three floors of corridors opposite (maybe 6 meters or so away), there being no window shades, only heavy floor to ceiling vertical blinds made the room feel like a cave. There is no bedside, reading or desk lamps - only the main lighting. The toiletries, Gilchrist & Soames, are in dispensers fixed to the wall (as you'd find in a budget hotel). Worst of all was the bed, the mattress was old with individual springs easily felt through through the upper layer. Every time I moved there would be another spring pushing into my ribs...

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Nothing
Bad:
Most things.

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Both the Hilton and Crown Plaza are similarly priced so this offers no better value. Unfortunately we checked in late so didn't want to start moving rooms at midnight, had it been earlier I would have insisted we changed. I tried to make a complaint when we checked out, but the front desk staff would no give me the contact details for the manager, but insisted I wait to speak to someone - after 30 minutes of waiting, I asked for someone to call me and left.

After making a complaint, it appears the poor service in endemic at this property. Out of the issues they addressed, the blame was put on myself (the paying customer). Lack of lamps - I should have contacted housekeeping; Uncomfortable bed - I should has requested a firm or soft bed at check in; No Gold Elite benefits - I should have known that their system does not recognise elite status.
