Swiss to introduce flatbed in C on A330 from 8/03

Swiss will introduce the new flatbed seat with a 13° tilt angle from August next year on A330's. This is the same seat that will be introduced with the new A340, which will feature Video on Demand and adapterless power supply. Also, new carbon seats in Y that give 33" to 35" net seat pitch will be introduced.

I'm really looking forward to these changes posted in a yahoo group.

Very good news indeed. What's the 13° "tilt angle". Is it flat or isn't it?

I can't wait for this to happen, I hope the leg rests are longer as well.

Probably similar to the CX/SQ products, flat but not parallel to the floor.

Sounds like Swiss is betting on high load factors (and/or prices), as their 330 and 340's will have few, but spacious seats in all classes.

Perhaps reduced total capacity is meant to allay BA's concerns about Swiss joining OW?

The problem with the A330 is not legroom in Y class. It is the narrow seats that makes it uncomfortable and the inability to raise the armrest completely into the seat. Therefore to me it really makes no difference. It will still be uncomfortable.

I thinks the new bed will look something like this :

http://www.singaporeair.com/images/e...lass/SpaceBed/

They talk about a Swiss/Italian design.

Allthough this is still a guesstimate!

btw:
Anybody in for a meet and greet this Saterdaymorning in the Allegra Lounge in Zurch ? I will be landing at 07.40 from IAD. Other option would be dec 29th at 11.am Zurich before taking of 12.40 to AID again.

For another photo (computer-generated, I think) but from SWISS, take a look at page 23 of their half-year results report:
