E-Ticket and E-checkin bonus for award tickets ?

I flew on three award tickets in the last 2 months and no bonuses except for the "booking online" bonus have posted so far. I was thinking I get the other bonuses too on award tickets since I save them money by not using paper or a check-in agent...

Good point here.

But I think you only get bonus for online booking. No bonuses for etket.
Fot echecking you may be able to get miles. Never tried it dough.

You should send an email and ask to get the bonus miles for the e-chking. At least try to.

Hello!

It's simply: The only opportunity to get some bonus miles if you fly with an award ticket is an internet booking (1000 miles).

For earning additional bonus miles (e>check in, e>ticket etc.), you have to travel with a paid ticket.

Greetings from Munich

First of all welcome to FT, Patrick.

Starting your first post here with the words "it's simple" is quite courageous (or shall I say cheeky?). Quite often, and I believe in this case too, it's not that simple. If you go by the rules, I would agree that these extra bonuses for e-ticketing and e-checking are only granted on paid flights. However I ahve often realised in the past - with LH, LX, OS, BA and others - that these rules are sometimes not fed properly into the computer system, and thus I ended up receiving such bonuses on award flights. And I suppose this is what the question here is about: will the bonus miles show up or not when using awards with e-ticket and e-checkin. Maybe not that simple. We'll see at the end of each month.

I only travel SWISS (and former Swissair and Crossair) on/with award tickets (never with paid tickets, I earn the miles with my credit cards, etc).

And, so far (latest award flight July 2002), I only got the on-line booking miles credit, never any credits for e-ticket and/or e-checkin.

Yes, we still get 500 miles per segment. It is not necessary to check in at the machine.

My experience:

Award e-ticket (booked via internet), travel Aug 2nd and 5th 2002, check-in at the counter (machine did not work):

1. They gave me only the 1,000 online booking miles.

2. I called them twice and explained them, that they owed my 2,000 additional miles (4 segments).

3. 8 weeks later I got the miles. Strange remark on my statement: "e-checking"!!!

Michilo, I do recall calling Qualiflyer in Geneva about free Award tickets booked as an e<ticket, and was told that no miles would be awarded for either e<ticket segments or e<check-in. Only the 1,000 miles online booking bonus.

Concerning e<ticket, I've just confirmed the situation with Qualiflyer. No miles with a companion (award) ticket.

I called Qualiflyer to claim missing miles on a paid e<ticket because i flew 3 segments and only got 1000 miles.
Surprise, surprise. Since 2 segments were flown same day, they say that i can only get 1 credit (500 miles) for those 2 segments. This is strange because those flights had different numbers. Where can i find that rule? Were you aware of it?

rucas0,

This is not true at all!! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/eek.gif

You should get this 500 miles for the segment. Even if you had 10 paid segments in one day, you should get 500 bonus miles per segment.

Send them an email or better a fax with your boording passes and ask for the credit, they have to honnor the rules.!

Hi I have made the same experience, the 500 bonus miles hardly ever get credited. I fly at least 4 segments per week, mostly eticket and always using the selfcheckin service if available, have seem few of these 500 mile post to my account.

PA

PS I have been following this board for a while and finally found time to retrieve my PW so I can post. Have been impressed by the info / advice posted here!

Concerto and rucas0: I would call them again and invite them to read their rules. They can be found at

But, I agree, I have the impression that they are not aware of their own rules. BTW emailing to QF does not seem to make sense. That's my experience.
