Maximum permitted mileage
According to the mileage calculator on the Qualiflyer site, any flight within the United States/Canada costs 25.000 points in economy class. But what routing is permitted?
For example: YUL - SFO normally goes through ORD, but would YUL - MIAMI - SFO also be possible? Secondly: it appears that flights from YUL (Montreal) to LIH (Hawaii) only cost 25.000 award miles. Is this correct? It would be, as far as I know, the lowest amount of miles needed to fly frow Canada to Hawaii of *any* frequent flyer program. Since they introduced the mileage calculator on the Qualiflyer website, a lot of people (at least here on FT) come up with these kind of routings. Based on my understanding of the rules, I'd say that routings like YUL-ORD-MIA-SFO should be permitted. Call them to make sure.
I can very well imagine though that once Qualiflyer finds the 'loophole', it will be closed. ------------------ airOli, the Swiss Air Line. ;) |
loophole? well, Qualiflyer monitors this board regularly ...

Rudi, I can easily imagine that, it makes perfect sense to me. But there were so many threads on this already (also including the low fares to Hawaii) that I guess it's too late already.... but there's always hope.
Also, if a QG lurker is reading this, we would love to see your 'coming out'! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif ------------------ airOli, the Swiss Air Line. ;) |
Welcome to the board, hypervoyage! Referring to QG´s Award Calculator fort he following two free Y-Class tickets:
YUL-MIA-SFO-ORD-YUL: 25.000 miles YUL-MIA-LIH-LAX-ORD-YUL: 25.000 miles Please note that this type of bookings are not available online, therefore tickets have to be obtained via your Qualiflyer Service Centre. Terms & conditions of free tickets using QG miles: www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum40/HTML/000706 |
The calculator also shows me 25000 miles from DFW - LIH. Have booked a flight to Maui so maybe I should look into going to Lihue instead. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I can imagine that flying YUL - SFO via ORD would be permitted, but YUL - SFO via ANC will be denied. But based on what rules? There must be some kind of table containing the maximum mileage permitted between destinations. Or is this information available to travel agents only? |
I don´t know a better link where the MPM (Maximum Permitted Mileage) rule for paid tickets is explained than: http://www.travelterminal.com/glossary.shtml
However, the amount of QG-miles you need for free tickets are based on award zones. For your example YUL – ORD - ANC (final destination) – DFW - SFO (stopover) – ORD –YUL on a free Coach Class ticket on AA referring to QG´s award calculator you need 25.000 QG-miles. |
