This is still on the SR webiste:

Swissair: Younger than ever.
Our fleet is one of the youngest of any airline in the world. We have recently replaced our entire short-haul fleet with Airbus A319, A320 and A321 aircraft - and we're still buying more!

I have it on good authority that SR has been turned down now several times over the last few months by every alliance. Gee, I really bet that they stayed with Delta. Not speaking about the current atmosphere of the last few weeks, but since they pulled out of Atlantic Excellence they have really gone down the toilet.

Its actually amazing and truly sad, they had a decent product and made absolutely every wrong move possible. I mean they are going to end up smaller than pre-cut Sabena pretty soon!

Did they actually pull out of Atlantic Excellence? I always felt that after SQ pulled out of the alliance with SR and DL that there really wasn't much of a future in it and once DL joined up with AF that was the nail in the coffin. Really SR just got left behind in the game of musical chairs.

One thing about making all the wrong moves possible is that they didnt think of these moves themselves. They were advised to make these moves by a very well known consultancy called McKinsey. These professional bullsh*t artists have no knowledge whatsoever about aviation, but they came up with the SR group idea. They wanted SR to buy marginal airlines. They wanted SR to go for a wider business scope. They wanted SR to buy SN. See what happened.

One of the first things Mr. Conti did according to 'the Economist' was get rid of McKinsey. Still, they made their money. I wonder what the partner would think when he gets into his (new)car and hears about SR going belly-up.

Of course the focus on catering and tax-free was not all bad. They can sell it now and make some money, but now the market is depressed.

One lesson we can learn about all this is that when oil prices are low and companies look attractive, dont aquire! Wait untill the oil price goes up and then buy them.
