Turkis Airlines...Experiences Anyone ?

Will be traveling (for AAdvantage miles) on Turksish Airlines from JFK-IST and IST-LHR.

Does anyone have any experience with them.

Thanks!

I don't know if they are flying the same planes or have changed their seat configurations....
but I flew them in 1992 and flew coach. It was a good experience... the seats had plenty of room 9was more like Business Class rather than coach).... don't remember much about the food though... sorry....

It was quite a difference from the experience I had going to the Middle East (Israel 2-e weeks earlier on El-AL.... which packed us in like sardines.... this was my most horrendous flight EVER!

Turkish Airlines, now, is one of the youngest airlines of the Europe.

I always think that flying with TK is a pleasure even if you are flying in coach. And I must say that I am not saying that because TK is our national airline. I am travelling a lot in Turkey, and I use domestic flights about 2 or 4 times a week regularly and I have been watching the rising quality of service of TK in the last 3 or 4 years.

As I am not using TK on my international travels, I cannot say too much about that. (I am using LH as they are flying all Europe with the best connections and I would prefer flying LH than SR and SN; Partners of TK). But my friends, my colleagues and my clients from abroad always say that TK is definetly better than many other even big European airlies like AF, KL, SN and AZ.

And you can be sure that the food is tasty even in the economy as Turks are hard to please about their food!

Drop me an e-mail if you need help about arranging your stay in Istanbul or need suggestion! I would love to help.

Thanks for the replies!

I have booked AA - JFK-CDG (Paris)
Swiss Air - CDG-Zurich-IST
Turkish - IST - LHR
AA - LHR - JFK

Swiss Air & Turkish are partners on the same AAdvantage award only 25,000 miles for a business class ticket inside Europe.

I think its a great bargain as British Air charges 40,000 miles.

My business partner wants AAdvantage miles so she will fly JFK-IST-JFK on Turkish.

The reservation system seems great with advance seat assignment easy and a no smoking policy world wide on the airline.
