Avios availability First Class
 
I understand that first class Avios redemptions are blocked on the London route. Is this correct, and are there any workarounds or exceptions? I was hoping to fly first class on an upcoming trip but I cannot see any availability. Any advice gratefully received Thanks.

No exceptions and no workarounds. It's the only protected route in QRs network. If you want to fly first you will need to pay.

Only “work around” would be book BA and hope for a cancellation ! Not so likely though

I was going to suggest this too. I was lucky…booked BA F with companion voucher, BA changed the plane and we were rebooked on QR A380. Very, very happy, but also very, very lucky.
