BA benefits on a QR reward flight

I have what I suspect is a very basic question but for something I’ve not done before and can’t get my head around.

I am BA Gold (OW Emerald) and have a standard Burgundy account with Qatar. I want to book a one way Avios ticket PER-DOH-LHR using points currently sat in my BA account. Flights don’t appear on the BA site so I have to book direct with QR. But how / when can I change my FF number in order to get OneWorld benefits (mainly seat selection and lounges?). Using my Burgundy QR account obviously gets me none. Can anyone help?

Never mind, it's a redemption ticket. You can change your FFP number on the AY website MMB.

Log out of your Qatar account so it does not know its you. Make the booking, when you edit the passenger details there is an option to put in a frequent flyer number, at that stage you can select BA (its a little hidden, when I did it on the web page recently I missed I had to scroll down on the passenger detail page to see it).

Its been posted on here before if you make the booking with your QR account its more or less impossible to change it. You can try putting the booking number into the Finnair site and see if that finds the booking and lets you change the FF number. (Click on manage my booking, put in your QR PNR and your family name, it will retrieve the Qr booking, click on "passenger details" and then "update details")

I found the QR number still stuck around, I had to get it changed at the airport in my case..

OP is using Avios to book, so they'd need to be logged in.

This also becomes relevant for selecting seats free of charge. Having entered the BAEC number on the QR site, the booking still shows the QRPC number, but alongside the status from BAEC, which permitted me to pick seats.

I think BA has a “book for someone else” option, which you can use for someone almost-exactly-but-not-quite-you (i.e. same name different FF number). Maybe QR has the same…?

Thank you. This method worked and I’ve been able to select seats for free!
