12 vs 24 month tier extension!?

So i have a question! became gold 17 july and will become platinum september 11! I will then be platinum for 12 months exactly, will i then be downgraded to gold unless 540 qpoints is reached?! How do they calculate the 1080 qpoints needed in 24 months to maintain platinum? dont really get the 24month rule.

So you become Plat on 11 Sept 2023 and the status holds until 10 Sept 2024. On 10 Sept 2024 you must have either 540 QPoints in the 12 months previous to that (so from 11 Sept 2023 onwards) or 1080 QPoints in the 24 months prior to that (starting with 11 Sept 2022)
Edvard and KingCanute like this.

Thanks for this florin How does the 20% Qatar operated qualifier apply to the 24 month qualification? I'll likely have close to 900 this 12 month period, would I need 20% on the whole 1080 to be Qatar?

You will have more than enough to qualify this year, and then need to accrue a further c.180 qpoints next year. The acrrual/sectors information is as follows:

"you will need to have earned at least 20% of your Qpoints or have flown 4 sectors (within 12 months prior to retention) or 8 sectors (within 24 months prior to retention) on flights either marketed* or operated** by Qatar Airways"

So yes, 20% of all qpoints, if you dont meet the sectors quota

you need to be warned that when you fly other oneworld airlines, the points almost never post to QR unless you follow up for months.

Actually I'm fighting for 2 MH and 1 PG flights.

Last year it was 5 or 6 IB flights, who credited finally 4 months later after numerals reminder to QR support.

I flew 10 flights since June on AA and 2 marketed by AA. I received TPs and Avios within one week or quicker, excluding one. That one showed up almost as soon as I sent AA a polite message to gimme my TPs/Avios. I fly an additional 6 flights with AA starting in the coming week.

I fly AA roughly once each month. Qpoints and Avios are posted within 24 hours. Without exception. Which is not to negate other's experiences.

Did QR support ever refuse your request saying that the miles were already claimed elsewhere? I am in the same boat with 4 CX trips even though I had boarding passes with QR FFP number on them.

Can someone who had their status recently renewed tell me was it automatic? Last year I retained my platinum status, but on the date it occurred they didn't update the digital card nor load new qcredits. I called them multiple times and it took them 4 weeks to update the card and load qcredits, lounge passes etc (I needed the qcredits to upgrade a flight). Might I add I had more than enough qpoints so that was not the issue at any point. Since my status will be renewed again next week, just wondering if I'm about to go through the same thing as last year... before covid this was all automatic and simple

This has frequently been my experience.

But the last MH flights I took, posted quickly and automatically.

I felt like I won the lottery.

Yes! I had, i added the QR number at check in, but since it was original in the system when I booked my AY number as I was a Emerald, i choosed that so I could choose seats for free! Then I call and changed it. and also made sure at check in that my QR number was the miles was credited to AY anyway and QR
refused to change it!

Ha, I know. It's become a game. I have 30 OW segments and about half of them posted. The most frustrating thing was the inconsistency, I had half of ones from the same itinerary post. It was a big issue when the outbound of the flights that qualified me for tier jumps didn't post, so the return portion did not get credited with the tier bonus miles when the outbound finally posted. Qatar stood firm on the fact that I hadn't earned status yet, when in reality I had their broken systems just didn't post the flights in the proper order. Sometimes I get an agent that immediately knows what's going on and escalates but usually I get combative agents who either say "could take months" or argue with me about the fact that they were earned at all.

The only way I've found to get around this is to have Cathay put something in writing that says the flights were not credited then send it to them. I believe there is some sort of OW clearinghouse they can send information through on these mileage cases as well.
