Reward flight in business all double avios

Trying to book some business class flights back from Singapore to London with avios. They all seem to be displaying Q2. Even when checking options of flying from Bali, Hong Kong, Bangkok etc it all seems to be double avios for July 2024. Cycling back through the months it never seems to drop to normal rates. Any tips for finding availability not at x2?

I have felt your pain also!

I booked a year in advance from BHX to Oz and got the usual 90k Business Class Avios redemption pricing.

Come to book my return back to BHX and everything double miles for Apr 24!

I thought it was Eid and Ozzie school holidays mandating this demand so I suckered up and bought some extra miles during a Qatar Avios bonus offer to make the pain less!

At least my Lady comes back in comfort but agree with you.

I thought I would be clever and buy a Revenue ticket from Perth to SE Asia. but everything also from everywhere in SE Asia was Double Miles also albeit slightly less base redemption * 2 !

bit of a con isn't it!

At least I got one way at the base price!

Cheers

watching if the rates subsequently change ne Flight timing

if subsequently rates change my plan may be to cancel for the $25 charge, get the miles back, and then sweat and rebook at base prices. But Qatar back office efficiency not the greatest frankly and would I risk this delay until I get the miles back to rebook?

Thoughts ....

cheers

Recent FT data points (and mine also) is that miles are refunded instantly on cancellation.

Remember the real cancellation penalty is actually US$165 for a two sector journey as the US$70 per sector redemption booking fee is non refundable. Probably still worth paying, but not quite the sweetheart $25 as it appears.

Seems this is not a Q suites equipped flight? I read it online somewhere, haven't confirmed it myself.

I was interested to read your post - although my routing was slightly different. Ideally I was looking for LON-SIN return. I have been looking for a while for spring onwards 2024 when suddenly all availability dried up except for 2x avios.
Eventually, on 6 Aug I snagged the following routing for 2 ppl in May next year:
LGW-DOH-SGN
and return
KUL-DOH- BHX

They are QR all the way except the KUL-DOH return leg with MY

Total (J Class) 300k avios and approx 1100 (for 2)

No particular tips except perhaps have a look at BHX (instead of LON) and KUL and SGN as starting points as they are easily accessible from SIN.

Also I read that QR flights are restarting from Cardiff soon - might be extra availability.
Good luck!

Less than 2 weeks ago I was able to book 2 business class rewards at the 1x price, EDI-DOH-CMB, was 65000 points per person per direction (260000 in total) for January 2024.
Looking again now, everything is 2x price!

From my general observations, lately QR seems to release most 1x availability 2-4 weeks before.

I always found 1x availability before, like few months to a year in advance (excepted Christmas/New year & July-August), but now Europe-Asia everything is 2x.
Kind of strong devaluation of the QR "Privilege club"

I guess it doesn't help that it's almost impossible to reach SE Asia on BA. With BA abandoning BKK and KUL, and SIN flights getting snapped up at 355 days out, QR is about the only option.

Since QR moved to Avios this has opened the door to a lot more people and points being able to book QR rewards (me being one of them).... Think the lack of QR reward availability is going to be the norm sadly, literally billions and billions of Avios are in peoples accounts ready to be spent. - this article has a good guess at how many avios are being produced every minute - https://www.headforpoints.com/2023/0...ts-per-minute/...

Perhaps the forthcoming "Keys" will help with availability, at least for QRPC's own members over partner scheme members?

I've tried HEL-BKK,KUL and DPS and checked dates starting in September-January.
Only 2x avios if any. Couldn't find any availability for upgrades with avios as well
I think that since the FWCs Qatar is really squeezing the lemon and of course they can.
