Confusion about the privilege club/ Qpoints validity

Hi all, recently saw some news regarding the extension of membership tier from 31st Mar 2023 to this year end, while I have not been giving much attention to their valid period before this,
NOW I’m very curious/confused as to how does the qualifying period of QR privilege club work? Let’s say I qualified for gold membership tier last 27th September, so the membership will last until 27th Sep this year right? So for each of the Qpoints earned, when do they expire? Can I stack on the valid/unexpired Qpoints to get to the platinum tier? Does the expiration of every single Qpoint got extended if I encounter some extension promo in the future?

Sorry for the confusion, just recently paid attention to the whole tier/Qpoints/expiration stuff, and they got a bit overwhelming!

Thanks for answering me! CHEERS

If you login to your QRPC account, it should show the date your current tier expires. It is likely the Sep 23 date you mentioned, or Dec 23

Qpoints are vaild for 12 months from the date of the flight. Or 24 months if you are relying on the 24 month calculation. They are not extended as part of the tier extensions (or haven’t been previously) and neither are Qcredits if you have those.

If you do not have enough Qpoints earned in the 12/24 month period directly before the date your earned or extended tier expires in order to renew at the same level, you will drop from your current tier, either to the tier below or to the tier of the qpoints you did earn, nobody really knows for sure with all the current changes. And that's assuming of course that they do not extend again...

By the way, has anyone who has received the extension to Dec 23 had an email from QR confirming that yet, and why they have done it? Or has everyone just found out by logging in?

Thanks. That's quite surprising. You'd think they might want to shout about their unexpected largesse

It feels like it was not planned to do these extensions …

For every tier you achieve does your status last a year from that date? For example, if I got Silver on 1/23, then Gold on 3/23 then Platinum on 5/23 would my Platinum expire on 5/24 or 1/24?

As you go up through the tiers your expiry date for each will be set to 12 months from the date you attained enough qpoints to cross the qualifying threshold. So yes, if you hit 600 qpoints in 5/23 your platinum tier renewal date will be 5/24. I believe it is exactly one year from the qualifying date too, rather than month end

Note though that once you reach platinum it will then stay the same end date for each year. Your membership year won't reset each time you hit 540 qpoints. If you earn 700 qpoints or more during those 12 months, you will be given an additional 10 qcredits, and further 10 for every 100 more qpoints.

Your renewal date would only change if your tier is downgraded at some point in the future and you then hit the threshold to upgrade again before the 12 months are up. Or of course if QR dish out covid style extensions with fixed end dates.
