No cold beer on QR - "787 doesn't have a fridge"

Had several QR flights in economy recently, and the beer is always not cold. Yesterday it was especially warm, so I sent it back out, and asked them why they don't have cold beer. They replied that the 787 doesn't have a fridge, so they don't have cold drinks.
This might just be the final nail in the coffin that makes me leave QR! But I wonder, do other airlines with 787 have a fridge/cold beer?

If it was on flights to or from London , I could understand them wanting to cater to local preference......

In all my years on FT, this is the first time I've heard the beer temperature being a reason to divorce an airline. (I'm not arguing against it; it's a personal preference / decision)

Even if they don’t have a fridge on board they should be able to provide chilled beer. A fridge is not available in every airplane. And usually they cater everything pre chilled and for stuff that need remain cool they have insulated carts and dry ice on board.

Yes, maybe that's how other airlines do it. QR doesn't seem interested in providing cold drinks.
Also, they don't bring beer on the drink trollies (happens on all my recent flights). They say they will come back with it, and it normally takes half and hour to and hour. Last few times I'm waiting with my food for the drinks, and food is cold when i finally get the (warm) beer.

I do understand your pain - on my last several flights in F the champagne has been lukewarm as well, and I have sent it back. In stark contract, my MH J flights last week had ice cold beer on the BKK-KUL sectors !

Update. I just flew 777 from mnl and the beer was very nice and cold! A very good Stella!
I tried again on the connecting OSL 787 flight and only got warm beer that I sent back out.

So I'm thinking that I could add a connection in a city where they fly planes with a fridge. The 777 has it it seems? What about a380? I should book to a city where I'm sure to avoid the 787 or 350, and preferably where I can get a oneworld or star alliance connecting flight.

I've been offered to send my warm beer to the flash chiller on an A350 before, it came.back 10 mins later cold. And I've had champagne before so cold on a 787 that it developed ice in the glass.Your crew may vary....

I flew on a BA 788 LHR-AUS and I saw a fridge in the galley, it was so effective the champagne had ice particles in it! So I would've thought that QR would have a fridge too...?

I've had 3x 787 QR flights so far, albeit in J but didn't notice the beer being warm. It's interesting though, I'm sure I probably had at least 1 beer on them all, but also QR has Hendrick's Gin so I do often get Gin & Tonics where on lesser airlines I'd just get beer. I've got 2 or 3 more 787 flights in the next year already planned so I'll have to check this again.

You should fly on Chinese airlines more often. they love luke warm beer apparently, but it's not the type of beer that's conducive to drinking luke warm. Yanjing beer which seems the most common is awful warm, and Tsingtao isn't much better.

Why not just ask for ice? I'm not talking US style of a 99:1 ratio of ice to drink but a few cubes should bring the beer to a palatable temperature - rather than returning the beer to the FA whilst sat in economy like you're at a Roman banquet.

No thanks, my one experience is sufficient for this life time.

After a few meals are defrosted and served, they can put some beers in the freezer. :-) I had a freezer in my landrover when I toured for months at a time around East and Southern Africa(over 7 years years). No point in suffering in the bush. With QR premium fares, kind of makes you wonder why they can't make a plan.
