New Offer: Collect Qpoints to retain your Platinum tier

Received this email this morning.

"we value your loyalty. That's why we are making it easier than ever to retain your Platinum tier with less Qpoints than you needed before"

To continue enjoying your tier benefits, collect the Qpoints you need by 31 March 2023.* Here's some incredible offers to build your balance:

Travel with Qatar Airways
Earn double Qpoints on each flight that you take with us.*

Buy Qpoints for less
For a limited time only, you can benefit from a special Qpoints offer and amplify your balance faster.

Here's a link to the offer page and t&cs

https://www.qatarairways.com/en/Priv...and-conditions

Basically if your current tier expiry date is 1 Jan to 31 Mar 23, you need to have earned 400 qpoints during the 12 months before expiry to renew platinum, 200 for gold and 100 for silver. Totals are double these for 24 months before expiry during this offer period. Tier upgrade thresholds are unchanged from normal (ie. 600 for gold to platinum)

Buying qpoints is now USD15 each instead of USD25 each during the offer period. Book by 31 Mar and travel by 30 Jun to get the double qpoints. Applies to new bookings only, not existing tix.

Now what can I do about this offer. A couple weeks ago I bought my tickets. Can I cancel them, get a refund and start all over again. This would bump me up enough to another tier now instead of taking another year to do that.

Also it seems offer is backdated to the 8th January 2023, even though offer email wasn’t received until 15th January 2023.
So if you already booked from the 8th January, you’re ok?

I got excited for a little while... I have a trip planned for July and I've cancelled it and re-booked (saved me ~$100) but alas the double QPoints are only for trips that end by 30 June. I have another trip planned for April but I've upgraded one segment and if I cancel and rebook I lose the UG and the Avios I've paid. :-(

I had collected 412 QPoints in the last 12 months, and when I check on my Dashboard, it shows my Platinum is valid to 2 Jan '24. Woohoo!!!!!!!

Regarding the start date of 08 January, on that date I noticed, in quite small print, on the Q Calculator on my PC page, the reduced re-qualification criteria. My current status had been extended to 31 March 2023, so I queried this with PC on 08 January and they confirmed that the reduced Q Point requirement was correct. As I have an upcoming itinerary which will now, considering the reduced criteria, yield more then enough Q Points for me to retain my current PC status I will now be crediting the points and Avios to my PC account, rather than that of another OW carrier.

I really hope so, I booked on the 12th January.
Will definitely keep a copy of T & C's just in case.

I have an opportunity to meet some friends in Thailand. If I cancelled my existing ticket, not to Thailand and rebooked going to Bangkok about 2 weeks before, is it possible to get the Qatar offer?
