Thank you, GarudaSoars and Reason077, for your replies.
Good to know that I can book award flights for another with my avios.
Good suggestion about booking one award at standard price and separately another award at the flexi price. Or, I may book 2 awards at standard price on 2 different dates.

Guys, I have 2500 Avios and I am trying to check reward flights for Qatar airways and I am getting and error message as others, What am I missing?

I figured it out. No reward options are available from YYZ to MLE, Only available from YUL.

All results I'm seeing are Q2 (Flexi Awards) when cross referencing with AA.com. Am I doing something wrong?

Looking at MEL > LAX but all results just show flex awards.

Oh wow, MEL-DOH-LAX is a loooooooong way to go; I would try to redeem on QF instead.

MEL-DOH awards are hard to come by; there is huge demand on this route.

Seems like I can only do QR cities and not any AA as a connection
Can anyone verify if it's possible to book awards through Qatar's program from cities where Qatar (or BA) does NOT have direct service? i.e. RDU in the US
I know the search engine does not allow it, but I'm curious if this would be a "call in" type situation?

If the website shows no availability, then there is no availability. Australia routes have very little award availability at the moment because the demand for travel into / out of Australia is high (and the prices are as well.)

I had a quick look for you - DOH SYD for 2 pax in Jan / Feb 2023. No J availability whatsoever. F availability at double normal avios (flexi award) - 210K avios per person. No normal avios F 105K available at all When we booked ours SYD-DOH (10 months out to travel date) there were one F at normal avios almost every day. We were thinking of booking one F one day and one F another day. However, this can turn into a nightmare in meeting up / accommodation etc. So, we booked one F with normal avios (105K) and one F with double avios (210K) - we had the avios so decided to spend them.

No J availability whatsoever! There are 2 F on certain days - but it will cost you 420K avios (210K avios each - double the normal avios, these are flexi award seats!)

thanks so much for the trouble! We figured the same and changed our plans to do the return route SYD-DOH just like you! For now, a seat in F and we’ll figure out the second. There’s Q2 avail for J, so we might do that and upgrade later. I see there’s a bunch of last minute F upgrades possible almost every day, so we’ll try our luck. Worst case, we’ll meet halfway in the bar section haha. Thanks again the rest of the route will be in Q suites DOH-YUL with 2 J available
