A la Carte, Doha-Manila
Madras lobster cocktail open faced sandwich
Appetizer: Lobster cocktail with compressed fruits
Tofu and vegetable dumplings
Unfortunately, they made a mistake counting the available prawn for main course so when it was time to serve it, nothing was left despite me pre-ordering it before take off. The lobster (light option and appetizer) were both tasty

I had the prawns on the Hong Kong flight…. It was terrible… worst thing I’ve ever eaten on Qatar

Qr1364 JNB-DOH lunchtime flight
Biltong soup sounds deeply weird ! Don't think I'll give that a go
Edited ..I did not try the soup ( didn't see anyone else trying it either )
From the main courses the Chicken was the best option, very tasty dish ... The Paneer wasn't bad either .. The braised beef was not great

For the appetizer I got the “tapas”, but although the food wasn’t bad, it wasn’t really like tapas at all. The little dip thing on the left was more like what they serve in the mezze option, the middle thing with cheese on top was actually noodles/soup thing, and the only thing resembling tapas were the olives.
For the main I am getting a little tired of Qatar serving that lamb dish as well as the lobster (which my companion didn’t like much) in so many flights and for months already. They were on both segments of my VIE-DOH-MLE trip back in January, and here they are again on the menu. So I decided to try the vegetarian option, the bulgur and I must say it was quite good!
I was gonna get the cheese plate as my dessert but they were out of them when I asked, so ordered the raspberry tart thing and it was nice & interesting. Very middle eastern dessert looking.
Overall still good food on Qatar but the menu items are getting repetitive.
For the champagne I was impressed they had a Bollinger 2006 for Rosé. Regular champagne was Laurent Perrier.
I tried the 3 red wines and the best was the Spanish Syrah.
Also as a note the service seemed friendly and fast, didn’t even feel restricted or anything in terms of Ramadan month

Same menu we had on QR729 from DOH to DFW the day before you traveled.
My tasting notes:
1. The Arabic breakfast is really good. The beans, though, are under-seasoned and benefit greatly from adding some of the feta that is served with the breakfast.
2. Note that the olives are not pitted. I would not have expected them to be, but others may not be as familiar with how olives are served in the region.
3. The soup was mushroom - more like a creamy mushroom. Tasted great to me. Had some sliced mushrooms in it. Was also served this soup on my DOH-OTP flight earlier in the week.
4. The oxtail on brioche is excellent, if you like rich, fatty meat.
5. Note that there is cilantro/coriander leaves in the salad served with the oxtail. If, like me, you loath that vile weed, you'll be in for an unpleasant surprise.
6. I thought the lamb main course was excellent.
